This is a Trusted Review. Why?

This was an absolutely fantastic place for us to stay. Being able to have a home away from home, which is what Janine and Ken so thoughtfully and generously provide was wonderful after weeks of impersonal hotel rooms. This is a perfect place to stay in every way if you want to cook your own meals (very well equipped kitchen) get good local knowledge, and be close to centre of town.

A wonderful small place, where the friendly owners make you feel right at home. Breakfast ingredients are extensive (eggs, mushrooms, bacon, etc), the DVD library is great, and overall I really can't find a fault with this place. It's certainly not the cheapest place in Vancouver, but well worth the money.

I stayed at Urban Hideaway for 3 nights and was very impressed with it. If you are looking for a restful place to be, and not the chaos of a hostel, this is the place. I paid a good amount per night, but only a little more than one would pay for a medium-end hostel.

Considering that the house faces a pretty busy street, Dunsmuir, it is very quiet. although that area can be a little sketchy late at night, well, that's Vancouver for you. because the house is quite small, there are limited rooms, which means late night comings and goings are kept to a minimum. The location is golden - mostly because what I was in Vancouver for took place downtown, but it is half a block from the Skytrain, and three blocks from the RAV line (and Cafe Artigiano on Granville :).

The couple who own the house are very gentle and welcoming, without being in your face - and its obvious by the little touches around the house for their guests, that they love what they do. Stay here, absolutely.

This is a Trusted Review. Why?

It is best to arrive to the city via public transit. The only negative was finding parking. Do your research ahead of time for 24 hour parking facilities and their costs. The building itself was as lovely as described! It really is in the heart of down town and the hosts are knowledgeable about the city.

Friendly and funky with visitors from all over. We are a Seattle couple in our 60s and found it quite comfortable. Kind of creaky though, and you might find it awkward to carry on intimacies, but a couple of steps above your usual hostel.
