Coasthouse Hostel, Xiamen, China

It was brilliant. Everyone was helpful, and friendly. Echo's English was great. She gave me a map and lots of suggestions. I was upgraded at no cost to a single room for my 2nd night as the hostel had made a mistake and the dorm was not free. The location is beautiful, quiet and 2 min walk from the beach, easy to get into town as well by bus (1 RMB). The hostel had a brand new tandem bike for rent for 10 RMB/hour. The rooftop in both houses was great, the outside patio too. The restaurant was not open, so you had to buy food elsewhere, but drinks were evailable. Accommodation was simple and clean and everything you needed was provided, even a kettle to make tea. Hot water in shower worked well. I would stay there again, and fully recommend it. It was a nice change from being in the city.

lovely concept of the buildings of Sanorini Island in Greece? lovely terraces white and blue colours, with a "Lighthouse" and a view of the beach--unfortunately, partly blocked by a huge construction site for a 5 star hotel.
Big plus for Echo--very helpful P.R.O. with good English--only drawback on my visit was the absence of othetr guests--i can imagine the place would be rocking with some Ouzo inspired communal Greek dancing? Invite the local Students over to practice--they were doing something like that on the beach with Bonfire, musuic etc
