About Hida Gassho-en
Our accommodation preserves the Edo period's traditional house style! Free shuttle from JR Takayama Station. The inn is 'Gassho-Zukuri' houses with steep rafter roofs inn. Gassho-Zukuri have been built since the Edo period but they are a rare sight nowadays. There is a traditional stone garden which can be seen from the Japanese-style guest rooms. The local dishes such as Hida beef are served upon request. The dining room is a Japanese 'Irori' room with a central fireplace. There are 23 Japanese-style rooms and one Japanese and Western-style combo-room. All guest rooms are air-conditioned.

There is very few restaurants and shops around our inn. If you do not order meals, we recommend that you buy foods in Takayama downtown.
About 10 minutes by bus or 7 minutes by car from JR Takayama Station. Shuttle service is offered upon request.
From Nagoya to Takayama
Approximately 30 minutes by Meitetsu Limited Express train to Meitetsu Nagoya Station or approximately 60 minutes by Centrair Airport Bus to Nagoya Shinkansen Station, and approximately 40 minutes by Express bus from JR Nagoya Station to Takayama Station.

Bautiful location couple of 100 yrds from the museum village. On day time there is a bus running into town (half hours walk) We payed more than the standard rate, but at arrival found that we stayed at the one private appartment in a seperate old house, apart from the main building. Hospitality was top notch, when we inquired about preparing a meal they placed a microwave for us. The meals (traditonal breakfast and evening meal) are worth the money!

This hotel was wonderful. we were initially alarmed that it was quite far out of town but they provide and excellent minibus service that will collect you form the station and dleiver you there. They'll take you into town in the evening and collect you too - so being out of twon was a bonus. Lovely view over the town. Main building thatched roof. Loved the welcome sign at door and green tea while you fill registration form. Staff were attentive and just lovely! Onsen was good. Only down side ofr me - no western breakfast so I bought my own, they were happy to let me have free coffee though - as many cups as you want and very good coffee.
The grounds of the hotel are lovely. If you want the real Jpanaese experince then this place is where to go - it was fabulous.
