This is a Trusted Review. Why?
This is a lovely little property over looking the river, making it peaceful. The rooms are clean, comfortable and cool.
Merry Guest House No. 1 is probably the best guesthouse I have ever stayed at. Sam and his wife were so, so good and always delivered 100% to any questions any guest had. Breakfast was scrumptious every morning and it was washed down with a big glass of Lao coffee. And this was all free along with the great service and the company of 3 adorable, well-behaved little dogs! Location is good with the city being only 10mins walk away. There is also a great bar around the corner, Hive bar, which is a must do if in Luang Prabang.
The rooms were very cozy and the attention to detail made it feel like our home away from home. Free WiFi also and great advice from Sam. Sam himself knows English as well as German as well as Lao, his native tongue. If you choose to stay here, do have a chat with him as he is quite learned and knowledgable. He also runs a charity for poor Lao kids in the north, the Monarisa foundation. Staying here was a truly humbling experience. Would recommend it to all and we would definitely stay here again if in Luang Prabang.
