great hostel in centre of Kathmandu close to every thing 2 bad things power goes off most nights for 1 1/2 hrs so it can get hot in room with no fan and second no lifts and a lot of stairs reception is on 2nd floor and rooms are all above but apart from that all good

Hotel Potala is one of the leading hotels centrally located in the heart of Thamel. This is the most convenient place to stay for them who understand the value of time. It has a simple, elegant, comfortable, safe and secure economic hotel for families, individual travelers, trekkers seeking for really hot water supply along with panoramic view of Kathmandu Valley and magnificent view of shawyambhunath( tourists known as monkey temple) from rooftop garden. It is posses 27 rooms categorized simple deluxe and super deluxe wiht 21' colour, flat, cable television.
This is managed by Tibetan and Nepali family since 1991 and just renovated. Our experienced and smiley staff are always willing to assist your stay in hotel comfort and enjoyable. Each tastefully furnished room with wall to wall carpet has an en-suite bathroom with hot and cold shower running 24 hours. The hotel has a restaurant, and roof top garden where guests can rest and unwind. The friendly staff at Hotel Potala will be happy to provide information about tour and trekking in the surrounding areas or book tours and transport.
Other guests services and facilities include laundry service , security lockers luggage storage guest car parking , 24 hours check in ,guest lounge and tour booking desk. Kathmandu Valley is known as city of historical monuments like open museum; Hotel Potala is an ideal destination for the lovers of culture as well as nature.

This property is excellent for the travelers, whose are looking for budget hotel in KTM, the location is excellent, the staff is very polite & helpful and well manners in talking with guest. In-house food quality is very good, open terrace dine is good, service is good, speedy service for any thing u need. The only 2 or 3 drawbacks are :-
1. This hotel doesn't have lift facility
2. Since Rooms are at till 5th floor, so it's very difficult to reach up to 5th floor (especially for the person over 40-50 years)
3. In room No telephone connection available, so it makes always difficult to go at the reception for ordering even a bottle of drinking water.
4. Since property is based at THAMEL area, so there is NO other option for the guest to NOT to take silent & comfortable sleep at night, specially till 2AM (because all noisy clubs, pubs & bars open there activities till 2AM)Over all i can rate this hotel till my 80% satisfaction level.
Have a night trip to KATHMANDU !!!!!!!!

The hotel management can offer a guest pick up and drop off service to and from the international airport, after the correct flight details (flight name and arrival time at the airport) have been provided by the guest prior to arrival and after booking has been completed. Unfortunately airport transfers are not included in advertised accommodation costs.
In given time if customers do not arrive at the airport they should phone the hotel reception on either 4700680, or 4700159. Our hotel staff will then provide details of how to locate the hotel at your convenience. If hotel staff attend the airport to pick up guests but are not located at the designated pick up point then unfortunately the charge will still be incurred by the guest.
