Edinburgh University's halls of residence on the Cowgate become SYHA Edinburgh Metro again for two month this summer. SYHA Edinburgh Metro is located only minutes from the famous Royal Mile, historic Grassmarket, the Scottish Parliament and all the Edinburgh Festival action. The buzzing local nightlife is right on the doorstep and this part of town really comes alive during the Festival with many terrific venues just around the corner.

All accommodation is in single rooms only. All rooms are grouped in flats of 4, 5 or 6 rooms and share a bathroom and a well equipped self-catering kitchen. You might share the flat, but your privacy is guaranteed as all rooms are individually lockable (£10 key deposit required).

Bedding is included and – new for 2009 – a take away breakfast (£3.50) is available. There are also laundry facilities (during day times only) and a bike shed available for you. Check-In is from 4pm. We have no curfew; there is a 24-hour access for you to enjoy the City. Please note that access to all rooms are through stairs only - a lift is not available.

Directions

Robertson's Close connects Cowgate with Infirmary Street.
From Waverley station, enter South Bridge via Fleshmarket Close or Cockburn Street and Royal Mile.
From the Bus Station get to South Bridge, via Princes Street and North Bridge. Walk away from the city centre on the South Bridge. Take first lane after Royal Mile on the left (Infirmary Street). There is the Royal Oak Pub at the corner. Take the next lane on the left again, which is Robertson's Close. Climb down Robertson's close for about 50 yards until you reach the car park on the right. Cross the Car Park to find reception at the far end.
