we found they charged for every little thing. Even having friends in the public areas after a certain time got charged. We were late in arriving due to our plane being delayed and we got charged for that.

Happy House is a newly restored early 20th century mansion and enjoys an excellent location in the bohemian and student neighborhood of Barrio Brasil, just two metro stations from Plaza de Armas, the heart of Santiago. we found they charged for every little thing. Even having friends in the public areas after a certain time got charged. We were late in arriving due to our plane being delayed and we got charged for that. They didn't even have a local area map we could have, rather they wanted us to buy a map of the whole city.
Also, to get to the girls bathroom you had to walk through the kitchen area which felt a bit odd.
It is a cool hostel and a good place to stay, but I think they have a few things to learn to make it a really excellent hostel.
PS if you do stay there, have the pizza at the restaurant on the corner directly under it. Best pizza we had in our entire time in South America.

How to Find Us:
Happy House is located one block from Metro Cumming (Green Line 5) or a 12 min walk from Metro República (Red Line 1). Barrio Brasil is situated just west (15 min walking) of the centre. Other options:
From the bus terminals and train station, use the metro.
From the airport, take the frequent and cheap Centropuerto or Tour Express bus from the airport to Metro Station Los Héroes. From here it is a 10 min walk, or take the subway to Metro Cumming.
