I booked Che lagarto using this page and it was 11.40 dollars per night. When I got there they told me to pay 32 Brazilian reals + 5R$ for internet. I don't know what kind of currency course they have. At that time 11$ was about 21R$. Be carefull when you book this hostel in different currency. They'll charge you more!

My name is Bruno and I am in charge of this hostel. I will be your contact in this city for anything you need during your stay with us.

Location

We are located in the touristic area of Salvador, in front of Da Barra beach, at 200 ms from one of the biggest shopping centres in the city. To the right of our hostel you can see the Farol da Barra (a sealight) and to the left el Morro del Cristo.

CARNAVAL:we only accept 6 days package, prior confirmed reservation, and a full prepayment is needed in order to warranty the booking, after booking the Hostel will contact you for the prepayment details. This package include: Access to 'camarote (place where you can see the carnaval)', and incredible view from the hostel`s balcony, drinks, snacks , and disk hocket all the time!.

Important information:

Even if the booking engine allows you to book less nights for the Carnival and New Year's Packages, your booking will not be valid if you do not book the whole package. (which means you will lose the deposit paid).

New Years Package 2010 (4 nights - 28/12-01/01/2010)

Carnaval Package 2010 (6 nights - 11/02/-17/02)

Bookings for New Year or Carnival must be for the whole period of the package, any booking that breaks into the New Year's or Carnival dates

will be automatically cancelled and the deposit amount not refunded and we are going to contact you about the payment from the whole package.

Please, make sure you READ CANCELLATION POLICY and IMPORTANT INFORMATION BEFORE you book.

Directions

From International Airport:

By Bus – take the Praça da Sé bus, across the street right outside the airport building for R$5,00. Ask the driver to stop and let you out at Praia da Barra, just infront the Barra Vento Restaurant. You will see us very easy.

By Cab – after 9PM or if you want to make it faster, take a cab right outside the airport building. A cab ride will cost you somewhere between R$65,00 and R$85,00, depending on the time and weekday (evening, Sunday and holliday tarrifs are 30% higher) and give the driver our address. A car ride would take from 30 minutes to one hour to get to the hostel depending on traffic rush time

From the Interstate Bus Station:

By Bus – go out the station and across the Iguatemi Shopping Center bridge and take the Praça da Sé bus. Follow the same directions as above.

By Cab – take a cab right out the station arrival area. A ride to Che Lagarto Hostel should normally cost about R$25,00 to R$35,00, depending on the time and weekday (evening, Sunday and holliday tarrifs are 30% higher) and give the driver our address
