Budget Accommodation Asia Azerbaijan Baku Hostels Caspian Hostel
Thanx a lot for the accommodation!
We had a very nice time in Caspian Hostel!
Well situated, very clean, the dormitory is perfect if you look for a Youth Guesthouse. We were looking for a cheap accommodation in Baku (which is quite an expensive city), and it fit perfect with our budget.

Our hostel is located in the very center of Baku, in the Old Town, 300 meters from the sea. We have 2 cozy and clean rooms with a separate bathroom with a shower. Next to the hostel there is a bus stop and metro station.
please disregard information on the payment by credit card only. Azerbaijan is very much cash economy and cash payments are preferred but there are lots of ATMs around and cash can be withdrawed 24/7
hostel condition is very well, rooms, beds and linen are clean and washed daily

The hostel is situated at 2 minutes walking from the Maiden Tower, 2 minutes from the Caspian sea, and is in the Historical Center of Baku.
Thanx a lot to our hostess and her family for the reception and their kindness!

I booked for a double private room, but the hostel is just a big room with 10 beds, and a "separated" room by a courtain with a double bed, so there is no privacy.
Then, there is a kitchen with a bathroom, so if some guest wants to go to the kitchen or bathroom, he has to cross through the double "room".
The owners are nice, but they can't speak English, and they don't recognize an Internet reservation, they just trust you if you tell them that you have booked on Internet.
The place is located in a weird and very narrow street, and you have to climb some dangerous stairs to reach the "hostel".

If you book a double or single room you should know
1 To get to your room you have to pass through a 10 bed dormitory
2 There is NO DOOR to your room only a curtain!!!!
3 There is no window in the room and the air is very stuffy
4 The communal kitchen is inside of your room which means that anyone at any time can pass through your room to get to the kitchen! It was really shocking to see this! It is not a private room just a corner in a dormitory behind a curtain where anyone can enter!
No of course I didnt stay! If I book a private room I want it to be private! Otherwise i might as well have boooked the dorm for half the price.
I would say a big 'thank you' to the hostess of the place and her whole very supportive family! Not only they hosted us, a group of 14 bicycle-tourists from Estonia in their own living-room and bedroom, but they also stored our huge bicycle boxes in their tiny courtyard for 2 weeks and tried to protect us in all ways from the shakals of Baku's tourist-industry. Some of the few people in Azeri who are really unselfishly hospitable. Othes only talk about it!
The hostel is very clean, by the way, and tea with sweets is served by hosts every evening or whenever you ask, for free!
Its still very useful to know some russian or aseri, otherways you could end up in misunderstanding. In this case try to find some russian-speaking tourist or english-speaking local to translate your needs.Best regards from Estonia
