Ta Som Guest House, Siem Reap, Cambodia

I traveled to Cambodia from July 21 - July 26, 2012. I chose to stay in Ta Som for the three nights I was in Siem Reap. As I had booked early and gave my arrival and departure details, they had arranged to pick me up from the Airport in a Remork ( The Cambodian version of Tuk Tuk and this was my first every experience) which is complimentary. Mr. Meng, the manager with whom I was communicating on email was very friendly as well all his staff.

I was received with a nice complimentary fruit juice and I found the room very comfortable with good bed and air conditioning. The toilet was clean and the room spacious enough. The room had a fridge, though lacked a kettle. They even sent me a complimentary fruit basket on the first evening.

I did all my travel arrangement through them and they were very reasonable as well done with person attention. I arranged with the guest house for three days of my local travelling and my driver Mr. SB was very friendly and I must specially mention his name here because he was took good care of me and we had become friends by the end of the tour. For the short tour on first day they charged USD 12 and for the grand tour on second day along with the sun rise trip to Angor Wat USD 15 and I found it very reasonable. After a tiring visit to the temples when I come back to the Remork, SB would provide me with a chilled bottle of water which I appreciated a lot. On the Third day I took the tuk tuk again for bit out of the town tour to visit the Banteay Srei and Kbal Spean and on way back Bantei Samre and it cost be USD 25.

The Guest House arranged a buffet with Apsara Dance at Koulen II Restaurant for USD 8 and I really feel it was really worth the money. They also arranged my bus ticket to and from Phnom Penh and what surprised me most was the smiling face of SB when I came back from Phnom Penh at the little away bus stand, though I had not informed them about my arrival time from PP. This really surprised me and it was complimentary too.

I must say I really enjoyed my stay with Ta Som Guest House and with out any second thoughts will stay here if I come back to Siem Reap again which I will definitely! I would recommend this guest house to all budget travelers who look for a comfortable and friendly Guest House.
