We are located a few blocks away from Pablo Neruda house, steps from the open air museum and in the heart of Valparaiso.

Welcome to Hostal Caracol. The hostel is a beautiful beginning of the century house remodelled with all the original materials, noble woods, embroided tin ceilings, floor tiles and a big warm chimney. All this with central heating and fully equipped and decorated with colors of today.

We have ample common areas including a bright open kitchen with a lovely dinner, calm living room with books to share and cable TV, internet in the hall and WiFi all around, DVD player with a growing collection of films, sunny backyard with a barbecue area and all the peace and quite of Bellavista hill.

How to get here:
From International Airport in Santiago: You should take the Centropuerto transfer to metro station Pajaritos, line 1. On the same place the bus drops you catch a bus that says Valparaiso, there is plenty of companies going every 15 minutes, and get of in 'Terminal'. The trip is an hour and a half long, passing through the wine valleys towards the ocean. The Valparaiso terminal is just opposite from the national congress building on Pedro Montt Av. In the same avenue take any bus that reaches Plaza Victoria, its one the most traditional plazas in the city and almost every bus has to go there, once in the plaza locate a huge multistore building 'Ripley' and on the street behind it find the little green entrance to Espiritu Santo elevator, once you get off the elevator you'll be in the middle of the open air museum with beautiful murals, walk straight and up the stairs, when you reach Hector Calvo street take a left and one block up on 371 you will see Hostal Caracol.

Inside Valparaíso:

Colectivo: They leave from 'subida Ecuador', a well known street, colectivo number 39 which says Beltran is the one, tell the driver to drop you at the Carmelitas church on Hector Calvo, walk two blocks down hill until 371 and on your right hand side you will see the yellow walls of Hostal Caracol.

By bus: In the corner of Francia Av and Colon Av take a bus O, which goes uphill through Baquedano street towards La Sebastiana (Neruda´s house). Get off on Ferrari street and walk downhill right in front of the poets house. Take the left road while walking down and keep going for three long blocks down hill, one blocks after the Carmelitas church, on Hector Calvo 371 you will see the yellow walls of Hostal Caracol on your right hand side .
