This is a Trusted Review. Why?

Booking online worked perfectly. Efficient and friendly lady at reception.
I only booked online because the day I phoned up (at that particular time on two occasions the phone was not answered (normal business hours).

My bed was clean and comfortable.

Only relatively minor point was that at about 3am when I returned after a night out.....I had to wait 5 minutes after ringing the doorbell......for the night security person to come to the door to let me in. On this night (6th March 2010) it was about minus 5 degrees centigrade outside.

As they have a security swipe card system to gain entry for the rest of the hostel......the best thing would be to put a swipe key enry on the front door also.

A larger kitchen (and perhaps a larger/another cooker would be helpful. It was a bit packed in their with groups of people all trying to make food --when I was there.

These are minor negative points. It is a good hostel. The system worked. My bed was clean. I will be staying there again if the price is reasnoble .

I sometimes can in advance get hotel rooms (city centre) for cheaper then the price of a dorm bed in a hostel. It just so happened that on this night Birminghams cheap hotels were "full"...and this is the reason I stayed in the hostel.

But this hostel is to be recommended..(and I am a seasoned global traveller).

This is a Trusted Review. Why?

The hostel is kept very clean and tidy. The room I stayed in was very spacious and had a regularly cleaned ensuite. The staff are very friendly and I'd recommend having a chat with them. Make sure you check out the kitchen facilities downstairs. There is free bread, spreads, tea and coffee provided. The common room is very comfy and a good place to hang
out. Would definitely go back there again.

It will be fantastic when it is finished. The dorm rooms are to a very high standard of cleanliness. There was no communal area but it is in the process of being renovated. I would definatly stay here again. the staff could not do enough for me.
