This is a Trusted Review. Why?

Me and my partner stayed here when first arriving in Beijing for the first time. We got a taxi here from the airport and were informed by staff that we paid to much for this. They offered to help us plan trips and gave us advise and directions when we asked. We ate 1 breakfast and 1 dinner here and they were both fine and value for money. It was cold in November but the room had heating and was cleaned everyday. The area was daunting to start with as we had never experienced the hutong area but we soon became adjusted and it was safe to walk around. Some good places to eat nearby. Nearest tube about 15 min walk away. Overal a good stay, would stay again if i needed to.

Quite dissapointing. The receptionist and the supposed owner were extremly unfriendly. Apparently they had never heard of travellerspoint, thus hadn't received our booking. There was no apology, just unfriendlyness. Then they offered to take us to another courtyard hostel nearby, which turned out to be just a modern multistorey-building next to a busy street. At that point I got angry, and the receptionist, a bit shaken, offered us a room in their house afterall. She managed to stay friendly for only a few hours.

Otherwise, the house is nice. Old-style courtyard, very clean, with comfortable beds, in a great location in the bell tower area.

But, luckily, there are other courtyard hostel in Beijing...

This place is amazing! Very authentic China. Great historical neighbor hood with plenty of old places to see. Scary at first but as a Canadian, this place is safe and fun!
Finally...BEST PLACE IN TOWN!!!

beautiful place to stay in the middle of one of beijing hutongs. while i gave this place a good rating i only reccomend it if you are just sleeping there, just using it as a base.

The wifi access is only in courtyard and you would need your laptop and very warm jacket if there during cold season as i was when on a trip doing business.

But this is workable, what really annoyed me is they charge and overcharge for everything. They served breakfast without informing we had to pay for it and it was overcharged, coffee is also overcharged, to use their computer you must pay. Any snack from their shop is overcharged.

This gives me a really bad impression of the place even though the staff are nice, helpful and friendly, having chinese helps as they only have one good english speaking staff. The place is also very clean.
