We had a great stay and the host (Rob) is very nice and helpfull. We stayed at many B&B's in Sicily and 5 Blaconi was the best by far. The 5 Balconi is located in the middle of Catania and every point of interest is reachable by foot.
I would def. go again....

About 5 Balconi B&B
Cristina (Sicilian) and Rob (English) welcome you to the '5 Balconi Bed & Breakfast', a sunny palazzo built in the 1800's, with lots of colour, character and charm.
We are situated in the historic heart of Catania, right above the 13th century Ursino Castle, which dominates the piazza and gardens of Federico di Svevia. Here you can wine and dine 'al fresco' on delicious typical dishes at very reasonable prices, while soaking up the atmosphere of a real Sicilian quarter.
We offer elegant and luxurious rooms: a single, doubles (1 with an extra single bed) and a twin. The twin and double w/extra bed also interconnect for a family of up to 5 people. All have 5 metre high domed ceilings and chandeliers, very comfortable beds with mosquito nets, duvets in winter and flowering balconies of iron and marble.
NB: Air conditioning/heating, TV and free Wi-Fi are standard in all the rooms. Tea/coffee making facilities, a fridge, DVD and video player are also available for guests use.
Our breakfasts are nutritious and delicious and can be taken in your room or in the communal dining area.
The breakfast options are:
Fruit juice ~ fresh fruit (in season)
Cereal/muesli with milk ~ yoghurt
Freshly baked bread/toast with butter and organic marmalades ~ Sicilian 'cornetto' (filled croissant)
Tea (Indian, herbal, green. mint etc) ~ coffee (espresso, macchiato or cappuccino) ~ Hot Chocolate.
We are only 10 min. from the airport, a 15 min. walk to a long, golden sandy beach and a convenient base for exploring the Eastern side of the island. (Taormina, Etna, Enna, Pantalica and Siracusa are all within a 45 minute drive).

Conditions
No Curfew, but keep noise to a minimum from mid-night to 8am.
No unregistered guests & no candles for safety. Damages & lost keys must be paid for and we have the right to refuse entry or expel disrespectful or unruly guests.
Check-in: Anytime, Check-out by 11am (but we are flexible). Bags/luggage can be stored at the B&B. Payment; cash only on arrival.

5 Balconi is a gem of a B&B within spitting distance of the Usrina Castle and vibrant markets, including Catania's famous pescheria, and only a 5-10 minute walk away from the main town attractions, eateries and bars.
The B&B offers excellent value for money and the hosts are very friendly and approachable and seem to have just the right balance between giving you space to enjoy the B&B to yourselves or being around for chats or to help with planning trips or giving advice on where to eat etc. On first impressions, don't be put off by the renovations to the building - if anything these are a sign of things to come and simply give you even more of an unexpected suprise when you walk through the main doors into 5 Balconi, into a beautifully decorated and colourful hallway. The high ceilings in the rooms give an incredible feeling of space and the balconies are perfect for people watching!
Overall, this was an excellent choice of B&B offering clean and welcoming facilities, excellent value for money and the perfect hosts. And for those on a budget, the property is extremely easy to get to via public transport, without the need for long treks with heavy backpacks or expensive taxis. I will definitiely be recommending 5 Balconi to friends and family intending oin visiting the area and would certainly return there myself.

The owner's very nice and friendly, the place is clean and cosy and it's basicly in the city centre. If I ever get to return to Catania I will definitely stay at 5 Balconi.
