ABOUT HOSTEL:
ALA HOSTEL is a newly opened, modern, middle-range price hostel, situated in downtown Riga, the capital of Latvia, in a 5-storey building right in the heart of Old Riga Centre. ALA HOSTEL is located within easy walking distance to nearby embassies, headquarters of major banks, companies, state ministries, major exhibition and historic centers, as well as major shopping venues, nightlife, restaurants, and other sources of entertainment.
ABOUT Tavern:
ALA Taverna has existed since 1992 and offers some of the lowest prices in Old Town Riga. Our Taverna (100 person occupancy level), located on the first floor, offers traditional cuisine in the backdrop of modern and stylish cave-like ambience. We are commited to offering traditional Latvian cuisine using the tastiest recipes we could find, the use of fresh ecologically minded seasonal produce, and supporting local businesses whenever possible. Come and try the homemade Latvian staples that have made Ala Taverna so well known with both tourists and locals alike: our Latvian 'smorgasbord' sampler plate (perfect for a mid-afternoon snack), traditional meatballs with deep forest mushroom cream sauce, our Ala 'hot balsam' during our daily(6-7pm) and nightly(12-1am) happy hours (or any of our UK-trained bartender's other creative balsam concoctions). Last but not least, sample the famous Ala Apple Pie aka 'Ala's Best Apple Pie- 2008' or any of the chef's other impressive seasonal Latvian desserts. Join us in the evening as Riga's highest quality on a budget 'after'-party' restaurant.
