The place is very clean. We were surprised to have a king sized bed, which was great. The room was small, but adequate. Lights were dim.

Welcome to King's Joy Hostel, offering premier standards for budget prices plus best location: just a short walk south of Tian'an'men Square and the Forbidden City in the heart of Beijing. From here you will be in the perfect location to explore both the historic and modern city and to explore the local area's 'hutong' alleyways, as well as the famous Da Zha Lan market street and the recently pedestrianized and beautiful Qianmen Street leading directly to the square.
The close subway station at Qianmen serves as a transport hub to reach the capital's famous destinations both conveniently and cheaply. From our spacious top floor bar you will have a spectacular view over the area, perfect for relaxing after a long day or just chilling out with friends and other guests while appreciating the fantastic panorama.
Our spacious and modern building features traditional décor to provide the atmosphere of both old-style Beijing whilst maintaining all the facilities you would expect from a modern establishment, and you only have to step outside to be right in the heart of the city's premier culture-zone, thus providing 'the best of both worlds'.
Our in-house restaurant serves both eastern and western dishes all for competitive prices, whilst outside you can shop for the latest fashions as well as pick up all the tourist souvenirs you could wish for. A short walk will also take you to Liu Li Chang Cultural Street, famous for its traditional artwork and architecture, as well as local museums, tea-houses, bars plus local restaurants and street food. Though we look forward to your relaxing with us in both comfort and style, there will never be a shortage of things-to-do or places to go!

The place is very clean. We were surprised to have a king sized bed, which was great. The room was small, but adequate. Lights were dim. The free breakfast was not very good: two kinds of cereal, awful/watery tang-like orange juice/drink, hard boiled eggs, a few Chinese dishes we never tried, and white bread toast. The coffee drinks started at $2 and then went to $3 - $4, but they were good and actually cost less than the Satrbucks and other coffee shops in Beijing.
Changing US dollars to RMB was a better rate at the hotel than at The Bank of China a couple of blocks away.
Be forwarned: the music was incredibly loud on Saturday night on the 6th floor. We were on the 3rd floor and the walls were rattling until 2:00 am. They had originally wanted to place us on the 6th floor, but after telling us there'd be a late night of music, we were fortunate to get a room on the 3rd floor. I can't imagine anyone on the 6th floor was able to fall asleep until the music turned off.
You'll need to buy bottled water to drink and brush teeth with. They sell large bottles for 6 RMB, but you can find these n small stores nearby for 4 RMB. Also, they wanted to sell us tickets for an acrobatics show at Chaoyang for 160 RMB, but we were able to buy our own tickets via the internet for 100 RMB...great show!!
