Latest Review for Jalan-Jalan

This is a Trusted Review. Why?

Place is simple and well maintained, with friendly staff available at all time.
Private room available as well though we were not aware of this initially.
Location is perfect with walking distance to all historical destinations in Melaka, namely Jonker Walk, A'Famosa Fort, and all Melaka main museums.
Please do not expect something luxury though, such as air-condition as the place is designed to retain traditional atmosphere while keeping the cost to minimum

About Jalan-Jalan

*We are a new guest house in the heart of Melaka's historic China Town, on a very special street called 'Harmony Street'. Here Malaysia's oldest Hindu temple nestles close to a Malay mosque equally old and a few steps away one finds a Chinese temple, also Malaysia's oldest. Rumor has it that there was once a Christian church here too, where the Bible was first rendered into Chinese.

*For more than 150 years the back of Jalan-jalan Guest house was a blacksmith shop and Chinese medicines were sold in the front. Effort has been made to preserve the spirit of the original building while making it a comfortable home for travelers on a tight budget. We have two sunny, plant-filled inner courtyards where you can meet new friends or just sit and listen to drifting sounds of bells and chants filling the neighborhood.

*Steps away from Melaka River, the world heritage Dutch Square, Little India, and the famous Jonker Street night market…

*All rooms come with fans and common bathroom, other facilities like laundry area, bike, FREE internet and WiFi, FREE coffee/tea...

IMPORTANT : NOT SUITABLE FOR PEOPLE WITHOUT EXPERIENCE OF GUESTHOUSE AND CHILDREN UNDER 12. BOOKING TILL 5PM OR 3 HOURS AFTER STATED TIME.

This is a Trusted Review. Why?

The location of the guest house is right is the heart of the Chinatown and walking distance to the Dutch Square. It is very conveniently located and good for exploring Chinatown.

The room is small and basic, but clean. The guest house has quite a character, with interesting furnishing Sam salvaged and created. It is converted from an old Chinatown shop house and the features of such a house is still very much evident, including the air well and a water well. There is free use of internet service as well though there is only one computer.

The only problem is mosquitoes. But can ask Sam for a mosquito coil which helps. The manager Sam is friendly and helpful. He speaks good English, there will be no problem with communication.
