Paganakan Dii means The Family in indigenous Kadazan-Dusun tongue and the retreat is conceived to welcome guests in familial hospitality. Designed in a contemporary interpretation of traditional stilts houses, it seeks to become the gateway to an unforgettable discovery of Sabah's rainforest; its flora and fauna, and a meeting point of people who value our planet's eco-treasures.

Our true 'tropical' retreat consists of air-ventilated longhouses constructed with walls made of a fine mesh which allow all-round visibility and air-circulation. The duplex chalets consist of walls which open in their entirety to the trees surrounding you and are designed with open-air bathrooms to fully embrace Nature's liberty.

With a multi-tiered communal pavilion built on a forested hillside and a multi-purpose hall offering amazing panoramic views reaching over 10km to complete the retreat, you truly feel enveloped by a tangible sense of Nature.

This is a Trusted Review. Why?

The dormitory is very comfortable with fan, nice beds, and deck with view overlooking the forest. Hammocks and the toilets/showers are conveniently located directly under the dorm. Food is good and reasonably priced, and free shuttle is a plus. Highly recommended.

This is a Trusted Review. Why?

This is the place to be if you are heading to Sepilok!!
We had nothing but a great time, nice clean basic room that opened straight onto the bush, and the bed had good cotton sheets. The Bathroom we just loved with the natural outlook. Our room had both Fan@ AC both where quiet.

We found the communal cafe and relaxing space wonderful with the staff attending to everybody with only smiles all round. The food we both enjoyed and the breakfast was enough to get us through most of the day and the beers where cold.

The pick up from the bus stop went smoothly that we where very great ful for after being on the bus for 6hrs.

Our day's where organized always the nite before so we always knew what was going on and the FREE shuttle to the santuary was great.

All in all we enjoyed our stay advised others to stay there, with their feed back all being positive.

Thanks everybody for making us feel so welcome
