About Onuku Farm Hostel

Important information:

Akaroa is not affected by the Christchurch earthquake.

Everything is fine at Onuku Farm Hostel and our hostel is open and in full working order.

We are 90 kilometres from Christchurch, a 1 and half hour drive.

Unique cosy farm hostel with rustic original Kiwiana facilities and the most amazing ocean views. We have 350 hectares of beautiful costal sheep farm that you can explore on one of our many trails and log fires to keep you warm on your return to our homely lounge.

We only have one free pick-up a day at 12.30pm in front of the Akaroa I Site. You must phone to book it.

Guided Kayaking with Hector's Dolphins only $45pp (these are seasonal)

We also have wi-fi and internet facilities.

Office hours and check-in times: 9am to 8pm

Due to the small and intimate size of our hostel we can only accept bookings for guests checking in during office hours between 9am and 8pm.

Cancellation Policy: All cancellations must be received 48 hours prior to the day of arrival by email. However, if you need to cancel your booking within the 48 hours please call us and we will try to resell your room and if successful we will not charge you.

Christmas and New Years Bookings:

Christmas: We have a minimum stay period over Christmas and your booking must include the nights of 24th and 25th of December otherwise your booking will not be accepted.

Please be aware of our extended cancellation policy: any cancellations must be received by email one week prior to your arrival. Cancellations within one week will be charged at 100% of your booking. However we will endeavour to re-let your room and if successful there will be no charge for a late cancellation or failure to arrive.

New Year:

We have a minimum stay period over New Year and your booking must include the nights of 31st December and the 1st of January 2009 otherwise your booking will not be accepted.

Please be aware of our extended cancellation policy: any cancellations must be received by email one week prior to your arrival. Cancellations within one week will be charged at 100% of your booking. However we will endeavour to re-let your room and if successful there will be no charge for a late cancellation or failure to arrive.

Accommodation Information

The Accommodation:

Rooms are Double, Twin, Single, Mixed Dorm, Girls Dorm ensuite. All are fully made up with warm duvets, fluffy pillows and firm mattresses. Or stay in our campground with tent sites and Stargazers. The campground has equipped kitchens, hot showers and flush toilets.

The Stargazers are like a large two person wooden tent with mattresses on the floor with a sheet, pillow and pillow case and the roof has glass in it so when you lie down at night you can watch the stars. You need your own sleeping bag.

They have no electricity in them but candles are provided for light and atmosphere

Location Information

Drive to Akaroa from Christchurch. It's only 6 kilometres from Akaroa about 10 minutes.

When you get to Akaroa drive through on the main road past the Bakery up the road past the high school keep going up the hill past the Hospital on your left, just after the Hospital turn right and follow the signs for Onuku road and our signs saying Onuku Farm Hostel.

When you drive down into the bay with the Maori Church keep driving past that up the hill turn right at the cross roads when you get to our entrance gate drive through and up into our car park. We are at the end of the road, the best place to be

Cancellation Policy

Customers can cancel their reservation free of charge up to 2 Days before arrival. After this date, charges will be applied by the property up to the full cost of the reservation. Deposits paid are non refundable.
