About Tambopata Hostel

The house where the hostel is located was built in the 1960s, made totally from wooden cedar, and after 6 months of intense refurbishments and construction, they opened the first and the only Backpacker Hostel in Puerto Maldonado in May 2008. We like to offer a place that is clean, very good facilities and create an atmosphere that makes people want to stay for long periods and is ideal to meet other travelers, and all this at an affordable price.

You will find excellent quality of shelters, sheets, towells for your comfort. As our guest, you will have free acces to all our common areas in order to make you feel like at home, you will enjoy the hammocks below two hughes trees, the TV rooms, our books about Peruvian wildlife, the snack bar, kitchen and dinning room, and our gardens. You can get a single bed for $ 9.00 USD in shared room for men, shared room for ladies, mixed shared room or a double matrimonial ensuite for $ 21.00 USD.

We are located at only 1 block from Main Square and from here you can easily reach very well preserved rainforest with our well priced tours, or with other enterprises that you can contact here at Puerto Maldonado, we can recomend some options for backpackers. From he airport at PuertoMaldonado, youcan get a mototaxi or a “motokar”,and you just have to say that you are going to Av. 26 de Diciembre #234,segunda cuadra (second block) and look for the flags and the blue door.

Some things to do in town are try typical food at very good places, make a nigth tour for visit places with peruvian and brazilean music to dance and get a lot of fun, some beach sopots from july to october. And things to do near Puerto Maldonado are visit lakes, creeks, rivers and get into the rainforest to do birding, camping, night walks or excursions to observe anacondas or other top wildlife.
