The location is fine if you are into chinese food as it seems another smaller version of Chinatown. Also, what the guide fails to point out is the fact that the Geylong Road is indeed the "Red Light" area of Singapore, so forget it if you have a family.
The hotel itself is small. The rooms are very small - how they manage to get a double bed in the room I'll never know. However, after saying that, most of the budget hotel rooms in Singapore are very small.
Rooms were not cleaned daily - which didn't bother me too much as being on my own, I was happy for every other day, but twice in the week I stayed is pushing it. Also the rooms (see below) didn't seem that clean as there was always long black hairs on the floor - probably from "short stay" visiting "working girls" (see above).
I was here for a week. The hotel blurb offered wifi - which I needed. My room was on the 6th floor where the wifi worked about 20 minutes in every 8 hours - if you were lucky.
Hotel staff tried to help but seemed unable until I was offered another room on the 5th floor. The wifi was fine there.Back to the location. The one saving grace is it's closeness to the MRT ( 5-10 minute walk) which in turn is only 5-7 minute ride from City Hall Interchange.
