Amapondo Backpackers is run by local people as well as some "Pondo Fever" victims, who know all about the wonderful things to get involved with and enjoy in Port St. Johns. We have a great family here who want the best for all our visitors/guests and can offer different activities to suit your needs and wants.
Join our guide for a great hike to the Bulolo waterfall, or even a coastal trip to Silaka Nature Reserve to enjoy the rugged remoteness of 3rd Beach. Catch some fish, surf with our own surfing master or just chill in a hammock with a beer for the afternoon. For Sundowner we either go to Mtumbani Location, to hang out at the Millennium Bar and meet the people who make Pondoland unique, or we go to the airstrip to see the amazing 360 degree view of Port St Johns while the drums are beating in the background.
We have a great new area extended onto the Amapondo bar where you can play table tennis, practice your drumming, join the local poker school or simply chill on the couches by the bookcase, enjoy reading your book whilst the barman serves you all that your heart desires. Our chef can cook you up a wonderful breakfast, including home made Xhosa toast or enjoy an evening meal with seafood, seasonal veggies and home grown herbs. We also offer great vegetarian options.
Our rooms vary from doubles for R110, family rooms from R120, our dorm beds are R90, or pitch up your tent for R60. All prices are per night, per person.
Come and visit us here and you will see how beautiful our views are of second beach, experience the culture, feel the coastal winds and get into PONDO FEVER vibe! Look forward to seeing you.
