Byoona Amagara has a secure carpark immediately at the lakeshore at Lake Bunyonyi's Rutindo Market. Parking is FREE. The carpark is also the location to catch our canoes and motorboat transport to Itambira Island.
BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT
From KAMPALA, take any bus to or passing through Kabale. (~6.5hours)
From KABALE, take any special hire/taxi for 15000shs/car, or a motorbike/bodaboda for 4000shs/person (we definitely do NOT recommend this mode of transport when road conditions are slick!), to Byoona Amagara's carpark at Rutindo Market - have your driver follow the signpost 'Byoona Amagara Parking'.
BY PRIVATE TRANSPORT
From KABALE, leave town headed west on the Kisoro Rd. The pavement ends about 1/2 km out of town. Continue another 1/2 km on the murram road, passed the Kobil station, and turn left at the well-signed fork to Lake Bunyonyi. Proceed along this road about 3kms, passed the quarry and water works, and the road will then take you up over the hill. Stay straight at the hilltop crossing (also well sign-posted), and down to the lake's Rutindo Market. (From Kabale to Rutindo Market is ~8 kms total, taking 20-25mins. Road conditions in spots can be poor, though 4WD is NOT required.) Once at the lake, you will reach a junction with a large sign for 'Byoona Amagara Parking' directing you to bear right. Continue down the short slope to the carpark, about 50m on your right. Tap your horn for the gatekeeper.
