Overall, an excellent budget hotel! It was my pleasure to stay at the Especen Hotel for 2 nights recently - what a fantastic room for $25. (wrap around windows and balcony) - very large rooms and everything was in order. I will be back at the Especen when next in Hanoi.

Especen hotel is one of the first mini hotels since 1990s located in the center of the Old Quarter in Hanoi. It is just a stone through from St. Joseph's Church (Cathedral) on a quiet alley off of Ấu Triệu street. This convenient location allows us to be just a 5 minute walk from Hoan Kiem lake, Vietnam Airlines booking office & Quang Trung bus stop (for service to Noi Bai international airport). You can get all famous travel points, restaurants, craft shops, pubs and art galleries,... as soon as you step on to the main road.

Directions
It takes about 2 hours from landing time to arrival to your hotel. You have 4 choices to transfer from airport to Hanoi central:
Easy way is by taxi (VND 250,000 or about $15): please be very quick to call a taxi once you finished passport control procedures & get your luggage if your flight arrived so late. Some bad taxi driver may tell that 'Your hotel is full tonight' then take you to other bad hotel to get commission, so please ask the driver take you to exactly address is Especen hotel - No 28 Tho Xuong & 41 Ngo Huyen street - Tel: +84 (4) 3824 4401 / 3938 0200.
Cheap way is by 15-seat mini bus of Vietnam Airlines ($2/person) to Vietnam Airlines Head Office at No. 1 Quang Trung Street, then walk about 7 minutes to Especen hotel.
Cheapest way is by public bus (no luggage & before 21:00 only): first you get bus No. 7 (yellow & red color) VND 5,000 from Noi Bai airport to Cau Giay, then change into bus No. 9 (VND 3,000) from Cau Giay to Bo Ho (Hoan Kiem lake in Hanoi central), then walk about 5 minutes to Especen hotel. The total costs for both bus trips would be VND 8,000 (or 50 US cents). Please be careful to avoid pickpocket.
We also supply airport pickup service for $15 for a 4 seats car, $16 for a 7 seats car or $25 for a 16 seats car. If you like it, please give me the detail of your flight. Highly recommended if you arrival so late.
