Located in a dodgy area of Askaray (note the selling of condoms and little blue pills just steps outside the hotel doors, and a "strange" proliference of men only hanging about), Hotel Melita is worth a miss. The most important reason - health and safety. The bathroom shower leaked, flooding the floor only to reveal small parasites or worms swimming around. There are too many other hotels in Istanbul to risk your health. So while the staff was cordial and the hotel right on the tram line, keep walking!
