the hump hostel is a very lovely place in the heart of kunming. the rooms are very big and very clean. the food is okay - like the travelllersfood almost everywere. the best is the outside terracce from which you have a great view and a relax sitting. in the nighttime it could be a bit loud because it is close to a bar area. we stay here with a five year old child and our daughter enjoyed it also very much :-)

Located in the city centre, The Hump is the most popular destination for backpackers in Kunming. A traditional Bird & Flower market, banks, shopping malls, super markets and pubs are all within walking distance. A convenient city bus system supports your sightseeing in this beautiful city.
Start your day in our spacious common room. In this common room, we have a bar, restaurant, satellite TV and a DVD player, so you can order drinks and food, or just enjoy music or a movie while taking a break. We also have the coolest roof garden in Kunming for travellers, including a pool table, table tennis, table soccer, a reading area with bean bags, and plenty of room to just chill out and soak up the sun. In the weekend, often wild parties drive people crazy and some travellers will share their musical talent with others.
Once you step into The Hump, hustle and bustle is left behind because of the open, casual, and rich cultural atmosphere. Overlooking from The Hump's roof garden, you will see ancient twin towers and gates around Jinmabiji Square. The area is very busy. In the morning, local residents practise Tai Chi; in the afternoon, you can join in a music show and win a prize. If you stay longer, you can look around the weekend outdoor market and have some fun!
Kunming International Airport is about 8km from The Hump, the train station is about 4km, and the nearest bus terminal is about 3.5km. There are many buses going these terminals regularly.

The recent Visa obtaining system has just changed and that has immediate and unexpected effect for our online booking system. A number of bookings have been made for the purpose of obtaining a visa, but without an intention to actually come and stay at our hostel.
Clearly, given the slim margins on which we operate, we are unable to sustain such losses and of course we do not wish to disappoint potential clients by turning them away unnecessarily. Our intention now, with your kind understanding, in order to avoid this problem, is to request that you confirm your booking requirement at least 48 hours before arrival. If this is not done we would endeavor to hold on to the room for as long as possible, but in any event the booking will be deemed to have expired indefinitely at 2p.m.
