Located in the city centre, The Hump is the most popular destination for backpackers in Kunming. A traditional Bird & Flower market, banks, shopping malls, super markets and pubs are all within walking distance. A convenient city bus system supports your sightseeing in this beautiful city.

Start your day in our spacious common room. In this common room, we have a bar, restaurant, satellite TV and a DVD player, so you can order drinks and food, or just enjoy music or a movie while taking a break. We also have the coolest roof garden in Kunming for travellers, including a pool table, table tennis, table soccer, a reading area with bean bags, and plenty of room to just chill out and soak up the sun. In the weekend, often wild parties drive people crazy and some travellers will share their musical talent with others.

Once you step into The Hump, hustle and bustle is left behind because of the open, casual, and rich cultural atmosphere. Overlooking from The Hump's roof garden, you will see ancient twin towers and gates around Jinmabiji Square. The area is very busy. In the morning, local residents practise Tai Chi; in the afternoon, you can join in a music show and win a prize. If you stay longer, you can look around the weekend outdoor market and have some fun!

Kunming International Airport is about 8km from The Hump, and the train station is about 4km. There are many buses going these terminals regularly.

Recently, due to building of the subway in Kunming,the routes of some buses near the train station will be under temporary adjustment.The adjustment is as follows:

*From Train Station to The Hump:

From the exit of the train station go to nearest Busstop, take the bus NO.80 or NO. 44 to ShuangLong Plaza busstop, turn NO.107 to Jin Ma Square bus stop ,our hostel in the northeast corner of the Jin Ma square , on the 3rd floor . Taxi approx. 15 RMB If you take train,and need to free pick up,please tell me 1 day in advance,pickup time9:00am 6:00pm it's by Public Bus.

*From Airport to The Hump:

Take Bus 52 or 67 to International Trade Centre (3 stops 1 RMB), change to Bus107 to Jin Ma Fang (6 stops 1 RMB).

The Hump is across the road on the right.

*From West Bus Station to The Hump:

Take Bus No.82 to the end,then walk toward to JinBi road,when you stand under the arch,we are located at the noetheast corner of square.

taxi approx. 25 RMB

* From East Bus Station to The Hump:

Take bus NO.60 to the end then walking about 20 meters turn right to Yongsheng Rd, at the first traffic light turn left, about 300 meters take bus NO.107 to Jinmafang （5 stops 1RMB).you can find us at the northeast corner of square.

Taxi approx: 45RMB

* From South Bus Station to The Hump:

Take bus NO.154(2RMB) to The International Trade Centre, and then change bus NO.107 to the Jinmafang(5 stops 1 RMB). The Hump is across the road on the right.

The recent Visa obtaining system has just changed and that has immediate and unexpected effect for our online booking system. A number of bookings have been made for the purpose of obtaining a visa, but without an intention to actually come and stay at our hostel.
Clearly, given the slim margins on which we operate, we are unable to sustain such losses and of course we do not wish to disappoint potential clients by turning them away unnecessarily. Our intention now, with your kind understanding, in order to avoid this problem, is to request that you confirm your booking requirement at least 48 hours before arrival. If this is not done we would endeavor to hold on to the room for as long as possible, but in any event the booking will be deemed to have expired indefinitely at 2p.m.
