Budget Accommodation Europe England Bath Hostels University of Bath
I spent a long time looking for accomodation for just 1 night (Bath hotels and B&B's have a policy of 2 nights minimum stay in the majority). I'd almost given up when I found rooms at the Uni.
I booked 2 rooms at the princely sum of £30 each (includes ensuite).
If you are looking for somewhere comfortable and affordable the best place to try first is the University of Bath. We are set in 200 acres of land at Claverton Down surrounded by trees and greenery overlooking the beautiful city of Bath, just over 1 mile from the City centre. A regular bus service to the University departs at 15 minute intervals from the City centre as well as from Bath bus station.
We are the only accommodation in Bath to have been awarded A Gold Standard for Green Tourism. We also have been accredited with the Secured Environment Standard which indicates our commitment to providing a safe and secure campus for all. The University is unique in that all accommodation is in single bedrooms providing a secure room and your own privacy........ Concerned what to do with your belongings while out, this is not a problem at the university as they can be left securely in your own room.
Many of our reception staff are studying at the university so will be able to advise on the best places to eat, drink and see.
The University of Bath offers single rooms with shared showers/wc. Linen and towels are provided in all rooms. Rooms are serviced once during your stay (if staying for more than three days) and all communal areas are cleaned daily (Monday to Friday).
We also offer ensuite rooms with bath and shower and TV when available for that little bit of extra luxury you may need.
All of our accommodation has access to a communal kitchen equipped with fridge freezers, and iron and ironing board, Tea and Coffee are provided each morning. Smoking is permitted in outdoor designated areas only. There is FREE internet access available on site. £10 returnable deposit for access card.
World Class Sports facilities on site available for additional charge.
Keys are collected at the Accommodation Services Centre (ASC) which is signposted on campus. From the bus stop go up the steps leading to the Parade, and follow the signs to the Accommodation Services Centre. If you arrive after 8pm then you need to collect your key from the Library (Large Glass fronted building) which is open 24hrs.
One night stays welcome.

All we wanted was a clean bed and a shower for the night, so it seemed like a great price. Unfortunately the building stank from years of heavy smoking in the dorms, although it's been years since the smoking ban came in, the air was oppressive. The accompdation was advertised as newly decorated, that was clearly not the case, and the advert implied that there would be cooking facilities on site, again, there was nothing. The other huge issue I have, is that when I booked they duplicated my booking for the next month and then took money out of my account without permission! When I realised and complained, I was assured the money would be returned in 5 working days - when I checked they had not refunded the money I called again to be told they 'forgot'. All in all a total nightmare, the accomodation was dirty, there were no facilities as advertised and they over charged me. Not even worth it for a cheap bed and shower!

The rooms were basic but reasonably clean. The single bed is big enough for 2, but not as big as a full size double.
There is tea & coffee making facilites, and a LCD TV with Freeview.
The Uni is up a steep hill, but only around 1.5km from the centre of Bath. The bus was £1.40 return from the Uni, and the last bus came back at 11.45pm.
Overall, this was a bargain & met my needs perfectly.
As it is August, there are not many people around, so I found my stay to be pretty quiet.

Excellent value. The room was very clean and has a sink. The only problem being as it is in the university, the complex is huge. Finding the way to get the key from security guy takes effort.

Good basic accommodation if somewhat noisy at times. Great value. Would not hesitate to use again.

A very relaxing setting, though somewhat removed from town. ($4 per round trip on a bus adds up quickly.) Facilities were clean, accessible and quiet, although I suspect the noise increases during busier times.
