Yamen Hostel is centrally located in the historic centre of PingYao within walking distance to all major attractions, housed in a historic building which was the former residences of government officials.

THE HOSTEL

In 1591 the emperor of China planned a visit to Pingyao. The townspeople, honoured by this visit, constructed Yamen Property (now Yamen Hostel), so that the emperor would have somewhere suitable to stay. The property was built in the prestigious location next to the county governors office. Unfortunately, the emperor never came to Pingyao as planned, but construction was completed nonetheless. Yamen Property remains today a highly regarded historical site.

Yamen Property resides next to the most cherished building in the old town, the governor's office, and we treat all of our guests as if they were emperors!

How to find us?

The hotel is located within the famous city wall; #69 Yamen Street. 平遥衙门街69号（县衙东30米）

Guests can get there by taxi from the railway station or bus stop, which will take about 10 or 15 minutes, costing 5RMB.
