About Casa Mario Lupo

We are located in 'via Mario Lupo' 12, between the 'Torre del Gombito' and the Dome of Saint Alessandro, just a 50 metre walk from Piazza Vecchia, the emblematic square right in the centre of the ancient medieval district of Bergamo alta, a very special and charming place, rich in artistic treasures and monuments, evidence of past centuries when Bergamo was under the domination of the Republic of Venice.

From our internal garden you can admire the high golden dome of Saint Alexander. Inside our rooms/apartments you will sleep peacefully in total silence (because there is very little traffic permitted in Bergamo Alta).Coming out our historical building (dated to the XVI century, once seat of the famous bergamask family named "Solza" and the canonic and jurist Mario Lupo) , you will find - at a distance of only 100 metres - the stairs to the Santa Maria Maggiore Basilica. Here you can also admire the magnificient Colleoni Chapel, the Baptistery which leads to the ancient Palazzo della Ragione. To the side, the famous bell tower ''Il Campanone''(Civic Tower), rises up. You can take a walk along the 'Mura Venete' (the imposing defensive bulwark of the XVI century with more than 6 km of wall still perfectly conserved), come up to the ' Rocca' and visit the places of the bergamask lyrical musician Gaetano Donizetti until you lose all sense of time walking through the narrow, romantic streets of Bergamo. You can visit all these outstanding places of artistic beauties just by walking, without stress and without needing to use public transport.
