Latest Review for Labyrinth Hostel Weimar

This is a Trusted Review. Why?

As a backpacker hostel, it's standards are pretty good. The only problem my cousin and I had was that the pictures on the website could have been more accurate vs the actual rooms.. It wasn't bad or anything, but just slightly misleading as the pics tended to look a little bit more glamorised..

Directions

Our hostel is located right on the central 'Goetheplatz' square. Here begins the car-free downtown and all bus lines meet here. All sights of Weimar are in easy walking distance. Right in front of the hostel leaves the bus line 6 to the memorial Buchenwald.

Arrival by train

At the train station Weimar stops et al. the InterCityExpress (Frankfurt – Weimar – Leipzig – Dresden) and the InterCity (Frankfurt – Weimar – Berlin).

You walk from the train station directly ca. 10 minutes (1000 m) to the hostel. Leave the station via the main exit. Just walk straight down - on a street calles 'Carl-August-Allee'. It changes name to 'Weimarplatz', and later again to 'Karl-Liebknecht-Straße'. Keep on walking straight until you reach 'Goetheplatz'. The hostel is just after the bakery next to the main post office.
The entrance is a side entrance in a courtyard entrance.

The bus needs ca. 3 minutes from the station. Go by bus 3, 6 or 7 for two stops to 'Goetheplatz' bus-stop. You will get off right in front of the hostel. The entrance is on your left.
You get the ticket for Euro 1,70 from the bus driver.

Arrival by bicyle

Two bike paths cross Weimar: the 'Ilmtal-Radwanderweg' and the „Thüringer Städtekette-Radweg".

If you arrive from the direction Erfurt on the „Städtekette-Radweg" you will directly pass the hostel. You will recognize Goetheplatz from the main post office and the many busses which stop here. The hostel is just left, next to the main post office building. The hostel is just after the bakery next to the main post office. The entrance is a side entrance in a courtyard entrance.

If you arrive from the direction of Jena respectively Bad Berka or Buttelstedt you will have to leave the 'Ilmtal-Radweg' at 'Kegelbrücke'. From here you can follow the 'Städtekette-Radweg' direction to Erfurt / centre of Weimar until you reach Goetheplatz. This way is well marked, but less beautiful. Its more impressive and shorter, if you cross the 'Kegelbrücke'. So you will leave the official bike path. Turn right after 'Kegelbrücke' onto 'Gerberstraße'. It changes name first to 'Unterer Graben' and later to 'Graben'. At the end is the 'Goetheplatz'. You will recognize Goetheplatz from the main post office and the many busses which stop here. The hostel is just after the bakery next to the main post office.
The entrance is a side entrance in a courtyard entrance.

Arrival by car

Leave the motorway A 4 at the exit Weimar. Just follow the signs towards the centre of Weimar. You will drive on 'Rudolfstädter Straße', which changes name later to 'Berkaer Straße'. It will end at 'Belvederer Allee', in front of you is the Ilm Park. Now you turn left. Just stay on the main road until you reach 'Goetheplatz' - 'Belvederer Allee' changes name to 'Marienstraße'. In a left turn it changes name to 'Steubenstraße'. Turn right at the next big intersection onto 'Gropiusstraße'. Just behind the next traffic lights turn left onto 'Sophienstiftsplatz'. On your right hand side you will see the back of the National Theater. Turn right after the following intersection controlled by traffic lights onto 'Heinrich-Heine-Straße'. Now you drive straight and you will reach 'Goetheplatz'. The hostel is located on your left hand side, one building before the main post office building.

If you prefer to park without paying for parking tickes you will have to go a little further. Follow the main road, pass a pedestrian light towards the next set of traffic lights. You are on 'Karl-Liebknecht- Straße'. At this intersection turn right onto 'Friedensstraße' and follow it for ca. 300 m. Before the next intersection with traffic lights turn right onto 'F.-Freiligrath-Str.' Now you drive straight until you reach 'Untergraben'. Here you turn right. Drive until its end, here you can park 30 minutes for free. …time enough to come to the hostel, check in and ask the receptionists for directions to free parking spaces.

If you arrive from Erfurt on the B7, you will drive on 'Erfurter Straße' (B85) into town. Before it changes name to 'Gropius Straße', at the National Theater, you turn left into 'Heinrich-Heine-Straße'. Drive now straight and you will reach 'Goetheplatz'. The hostel is located on your left hand side, one building before the main post office building. For directions to a 30 minutes free parking space follow the directions above.

If you arrive from Jena on the B7, you will drive on 'Jenaer Straße' (B7) into town. Later it changes name to 'Friedensstraße'. After you crossed the river Ilm, you will get to an intersection with traffic lights. Here you follow 'Friedensstraße' to the left. On your right hand side you will see the Welcome-Center, the former Gauforum. Just right after the intersection with traffic lights you turn left into 'F.-Freiligrath-Str.' Drive straight until you reach 'Untergraben' Follow it to the right.
