Had an awesome time, right in the middle of the city. It is close to everything and it has lots of different activities you can do while you're staying there as well as being affordable. I definitely recommend frienz backpackers.

After new ownership/management NOT clean. Internet availability is restricted to 3 computers located in the kitchen room and VERY slow. 3rd floor is comletely mildewed (mold fungus). Toilet facilities on 3rd floor were being painted and not useable during our stay. 1st floor has an inner courtyard, cigarette smell in rooms (as well as smells from kitchen which is open to the reception and staircase). Elevator was out of order. Bathrooms were all rotten, not clean, drainpipe fell off and layed around for days. In room to road it was very noisy, windows were not fully closeable. Refrigerator was too noisy during the night. No TV in the room as on the picure on their HP. No refund: ask to see room before paying!!!!! All in all, though the location is quite central, the hostel is a nogo as it's run-down and mildewy.

Gnouk stayed here in Jul '11

I couldn't help but feel dirty in my room. I only had one sheet and my towel had a smell. Also, I did not have a TV in my double room, as advertised on the site. It was pretty noisy and the lift wasn't working, so had to walk up about 6 flights of stairs! There was also not any air conditioning, so it was quite hot. My fridge made a loud 'gurgling' sound, so had to be unplugged to sleep. It was nice to have my own room, but would probably prefer to pay a little more and have somewhere nicer. The people were not at all friendly. I sat down to eat and people just speak their own language and ignore others, which defeats the point of staying in backpackers for me. The free internet was really good, and SOME of the staff were friendly. Overall, probably not recommended. It was conveniently located.
