The Downtown Hostel is fantastic. The people are friendly - its ridiculously affordable at the moment, the free wifi is awesome - the coffee is excellent. The only minor irritation was no individual bed lights or power outlets next to the beds - but for such a good price and location who really cares? I walked EVERYWHERE because its all in such close proximity to the hostel.

About Reykjavik Downtown Hostel

Offering comfortable and classy accommodation and excellent service at an affordable price, Reykjavik Downtown Hostel is one of the most highly recommended HI Hostels in the world. It is nestled a stones throw from the lively harbor area, in the heart of downtown Reykjavik, Iceland, yet in a quiet residential street. Most of Reykjaviks attractions are only minutes away, including Harpa concert hall and conference center and Hallgrmskirkja church. Reykjavk Downtown Hostel has been an Eco certified place to stay since 2010.Facilities include free WiFi in all rooms and lounges, free computer access, book exchange, a coffee bar and a fully equipped kitchen and lounge. Our mostly organic breakfast buffet is a good start to the day. Free movie nights and music events are hosted in the lobby on a regular basis. The hostel team is happy to give local advice on services and attractions and arrange your tours for free, including the Golden Circle, the Blue Lagoon, horseback riding, whale watching and all kinds of adventure tours. We also arrange car rentals with free pick up, bike rental and all local transport. Great specials and package deals available. We look forward to welcoming you.Please note: Prices shown are HI membership prices. Membership cards (2000isk per person - valid for 1 year all around the world) can be purchased upon arrival.
