I was there for 16 days. The price was right and the staff very helpful. Overall not bad. As for the accuracy of the hotel's description of amenities . . . that's another story. '24/7 English speaking staff'. (no one spoke English on any level except sometimes "Hello".

The hotel is within short walking distance of many attractions, including the famous Hutong Culture street. Only eight minutes away is Houhai Lake, perfect for a morning stroll or a romantic dinner surrounded by ancient architecture. Our traditional Chinese courtyard used to be the home of Lord Zaize in the Qing Dynasty. I was there for 16 days. The price was right and the staff very helpful. Overall not bad. As for the accuracy of the hotel's description of amenities . . . that's another story. '24/7 English speaking staff'. (no one spoke English on any level except sometimes "Hello". 'Restaurant' (not available due to extensive renovation. 'Walking distance to many historical sites' (not true). 'Free hi speed internet' (slowest speed I have ever encountered) If you don't have your own laptop, some rooms have a PC that costs 20 rmb per day but still very slow. Noisy hallways with guests and housekeepers slamming doors all hours. 'Swimming pool & spa' (next door but costs a fee) There's more but not necessary to describe. As I said I was there for 16 days and overall not bad for the price. It just was not what I had expected from the 'online' description. I lived in China for 2 years so I sort of knew what to expect and this was lower than expected.

Overall I had a very enjoyable stay and found the staff very helpful and willing to go out of their way to aid me. If one didn't speak English well they would contact someone who did. The tour desk was very convenient also. One warning if you book make sure to print a map and phone number as several cabs had trouble finding it!
