location was good, however believe that the room rate was high for facilities provided....on a per square foot basis - i believe it is would be up at the same rates to a 2/3 star hotel in Hong Kong & on this point it was not worth the $$$.
room door at night was locked with a piece of wire slipped into a eye hook & the door still had a gap of 1/2 an inch. cold water to shower was minimal which meant you had a very very hot shower or a dribbling cold shower - warm was non-existent. the boss was away and the "permanent" staff seemed surprise or reluctant to help if a question was asked eg "can i have breakfast?"..."i will see" was their reply...not very positive & one of reluctance. overall i was disappointed, so much so that I shifted to another lodge for my remaining stay in Shangri La which while it was more expensive (only a little) the facilities & the staff were far superior.
Final point, which may have made a difference is that while i was staying the "boss" was away which if he happened to be present the points of irration that i experienced may have not occurred.
