Latest Review for Central Park Inn and Private Rooms

This is a Trusted Review. Why?

Common areas and bathrooms were clean but my room wasn't. Stayed there for 6 nights and it never got cleaned as the rubbish I had found under the bed the first day was still there when I left. And the room's window was locked. In order to give me the payment receipt someone of the staff entered my room while I was sleeping, I found that weird and disturbing. I have a long experience as a bagpacker traveller thus I wasn't expecting a Jacuzi... I can't recommend it.

About Central Park Inn and Private Rooms

This is an all private room facility. We have several sizes of private rooms available, which can accomodate from 1-8 guest.

We are very convenient to the airport by public transportation. We are located in Manhattan only 100 feet (30 meters)from the B/C subway, 750 feet from the 2/3 subway, and 10 minutes from Times Square.

We are 6 blocks from Central Park about 3/10's of a mile, or 1/2 kilometer,

Our room types include.

A 6 person room which can accomodate up to 8 guests.

A very large superior double room that sleeps up to 4 persons with room for an airbed for a 5th guest at an additional $10 /night payable on arrival.

A king bed bedroom that you can add a 3rd guest at $10/night payable on arrival.

A queen bed bedroom that you can add a 3rd guest at $10/night payable on arrival.

A small budget room, which can only accomodate 1-2 guests. We offer the value priced traveler a very clean place to holiday. You can see our very high cleanliness rating on this site how focused we are on cleanliness.

We have housekeeping constantly throughout the day. We have comfortable beds and you will have full use of the very clean, fully equiped kitchen to help keep you food budget low in New York.

All our rooms are private rooms and have a key locking doors.

Our lowest cost private budget room, while being quite small has the benefit of being a private room with a key locking door at a price close to the price of a dorm bed but without having to share your space.

**Our small budget room can sleep 2 and can be reserved under the single room option. It is mostly just the bed with place to hang your clothes and place some clothes in a draws and store luggage under the bed. It is private and you have a key locked door but small. Please look at the photos of the budget room before booking.**

All our double rooms are large and should not be confused with the budget room.

We encourage our guest to make full use of our very clean fully equipped kitchen as a way of saving money on your holiday. We have a supermarket next door and Karrot an organic market around the corner ,which really adds to the convenience of preparing your own inexpensive an healthy meals.

We have everything you will need for a great vacation.

Amenities include 2 bathrooms one of which has a $10,000 shower built for 2 people with an overhead water supply so it feels like showering in a waterfall. There is no better way to wash long hair than this!!!!

A blow dryer, and iron and places to store your food which you can buy and prepare your inexpensive meals.

Wireless internet at no charge, cable TV/ DVD, a full chefs kitchen with sharp knives lots of cutting boards, a supermarket right next door, a US Post office right next to that.

We have Carrot, an organic market and "The Winery", an organic and environmentally sensitive wine shop around the corner, a beautiful new woman's salon with a $30 mani/pedi special is across the street. We have a bakery across the street and a Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts around the corner. We are less than 2 miles for 10 different museums along Central Park east and west sides from the Guggenheim to the Metropolitan to the Museum of Natural History.

The diner from the Jerry Seinfeld show is less than 1 mile away and Jerry Seinfeld and Madonna live 1.5 miles south of us on Central Park West.

We provide coffee and tea. Since the supermarket is right next door and there is a bakery at our corner you will save a ton of money cooking.

The way we offer such low rates is because we have a low vacancy rate and low no show rate due to our supplementary payment policy.

We accept reservations up to 28, but only 7 days can be reserved online without making an additional payment directly to us , in order to confirm your booking.

How our payment policy works is as follows.

For all the nights from 8-28 when your arrival date starts 28 days or more from your booking date ,all additional nights beyond 7 must be paid within 7 days by paypal or credit card through an email or a phone charge. If your arrival is fewer than 28 days from your booking date (48 hours is the payment deadline for to confirm a booking). Also, if you are part on a group, and you are arriving more than 28 days from the start of your reservation then all nights of the second and third rooms etc must be paid for within 7 days of the reservation in order to confirm your reservation. .** Example: A group of 4 guests booking 2 rooms for 10 nights will need to make a 13 night payment to confirm to reservation, which is equal to the nights of the second guests reservation plus the extra 3 nights of the first guest.

Cancellation Policy. Written notice of a cancellation 7 or more nights before your scheduled arrival is required to avoid a 1 night charge.

Paypal reservation require a minimum 1 night prepayment to confirm a reservation and are subject to the above requirements

I wouldn't want to recommend anyone to stay in this place. Even in this price range, there are many more nicer opportunities in the city. I have stayed in the CP Cozy Room in apartment #1 for an entire month and have seen almost everything that could have gone wrong, go wrong. Fawlty Towers, but much worse. First of all, keep in mind that this is not as much an inn or B&B, but a hostel with private rooms. The owner has three apartments in one building. Every apartment has got 7 rooms; 2 of them are suitable for 2 persons and 5 of them can host up till 4 or 5 people. Giving the fact that the rooms are almost always booked with the maximum number of guests, we are counting with approximately 24 people in one apartment every night. The guests from apartment #2 get the keys of apartment #1 because of the living room in #1 is bigger (suitable for maybe up till 8 people), so that is a whole lot of people packed in a small place.
The advertised 'full chef's kitchen' includes only one kitchen knife, one bread knife, two frying pans, one over sized cooking pan and one somewhat more practical cooking pan. This means that you almost have to wait for other people to finish their dishes, before you can cook. Both the dishwasher and dryer are not working. The fuse box happens to be in the CP Cozy Room (!), so mechanics were knocking on our door often and on an irregular basis. Imagine you want to sleep in during your vacation and you can't because of mechanics have to be in your room all the time. The key of the front door on the street level and the key to the apartment are poorly fitting.
There were also bedbugs in the CP Cozy Room and possibly on the couches in the living room. My boyfriend and I were both bitten several times and when I reported about them, David suggested that we might as well have been bitten by mosquitoes. He also told me they never had any bedbug problems at all before. However, one of his housekeepers said that there were bedbugs before and that they were even forced to replace the mattresses. It was only when I caught the bugs at night and showed the bloodstains on the sheet that he treated the case more seriously. The room was being treated twice, the sheets replaced and because there were *no other rooms available*, our clothes were brought to the dry cleaner's across the street. Some of the clothes came back the same day, others were 'forgotten' and we had to collect them ourselves. The rest of the apartment has not been treated, so chances are that they will return and, worse, will eventually expand to other rooms.
When confronted with all the complaints and being asked for a refund, David started to yell that that was not appropriate at all and that we surely had brought the bedbugs in that room ourselves, that the dishwasher, the washing machine and the dryer were not for the guests but for the housekeepers, that there were enough pans, that the locks worked well enough and that he had taken care of the fuse box problem adequately by telling the mechanics not to enter the room before 11 am. Now I am not trained in hotel keeping, but I am a very experienced traveller who has been to all far out corners of the world, both for pleasure and work and this is the absolute worst experience I ever had so far. This is not the way how to treat you guests, no matter what.
