Our first impression on walking in was not so great, but it turned out to be really lovely and interesting, and the people in charge were helpful and friendly. It was a completely separate apartment, so we had lots of privacy and quiet, except for some noise from the street outside.

Our first impression on walking in was not so great, but it turned out to be really lovely and interesting, and the people in charge were helpful and friendly. It was a completely separate apartment, so we had lots of privacy and quiet, except for some noise from the street outside. The kitchen was well-equipped and very nice to cook in.
There was no formal check-out time, so we were able to use the last day to explore the city some more without carting our bags around.

Pernstyn was a great find! It's part of a residential set of apartments not far from the Charles Bridge and the Old Town Square. Our host, Tereza, was very accommodating and went out of her by waiting for our late arrival and then allowing us to leave our bags at the apartment until our return flight (also late!).
Although it's very close to the usual tourist traps, Pernstyn didn't make us feel like tourists: the surrounding streets are bustling with locals going about their daily business and our neighbours were Czech - you almost feel like you live there! The only drawback I can think of is that it is rather loud in the morning - however, the 'hustle and bustle' spilling in from the street could be said to add to the 'quasi-authenticity' of the stay. The walls were also bare sand plaster, but I would again refer to my previous latter point: these comments are really picking minor holes in what was overall a brilliant stay at Pernstyn.
I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants great value, in a great location with a twist of 'authentic' Praha living. Thank you, again, Tereza for you patience and hospitality.
