Cheap, Clean and Cheerful!!! The Palm is owned and run by Europeans we focus on travellers seeking activity and adventure. Surfing, Capoeira, hiking, mountain-biking, kayaking, boat trips, whale watching, we can help you get active in Itacaré. Maximum of 4 people per room, all rooms are en suite with a fan, and we are the only hostel in Itacaré with FREE WIRELESS - we are the ONLY hostel that offers this serivce. We provide linen and towels for free too. All guests have access to the kitchen and a cheap laundry service. Out the back is a fully serviced campsite with electricity points, showers and hand-washed linen facilities. We try to keep the hostel quiet at night, but we are right in the centre of town for those who want to party.
We at the Palm try to create a friendly atmosphere, not only between you and the staff, but also between fellow guests. We have an outdoor social area and there is a big garden out the back to chill out in the hammock during the day. Basically, if you're happy, then so are we.
Itacaré is especially famous for its surf and a lot of surfers stay with us Tha Palm is the hostel closest to the waves with 5 surf beaches within walking distance. On a big swell there is also the river break one of the longest waves in Brazil. For beginners we have surf classes. Contact for our very reasonable surf package rates. For experienced surfers we have board rental (no wetsuits ever needed here!), transport to the beaches outside town, and advice on where and when is the best place to surf.
For non-surfers there is hiking to many secluded beaches and waterfalls (18 trails), Capoeira classes, kayaking up the river, mountain biking, rafting, boat tours, whale-watching (in season), off-road trips, gym, paragliding, Portuguese classes, or just chill out on one of the 15 beaches the area has to offer. We are in the middle of the main street and close to all the shops, cafés and bars too. So, don't worry, you won't be bored....

Step 2 - Taxi from the bus station to the Palm should be 5-10 Reais, depending on your negtiating skills. Just tell the taxi driver 'Pituba', and watch out for the Palm Tree half-way up the street. We're no.169
OR
Step 2 - Walking from Bus Station - Leaving the bus station, turn right on the main road, going into town. Walk on this road until after 250m you see a small square with benches and an ATM on your left side. On the right side (opposite the square) is a pharmacy. If you walk past the pharmacy, beside it there is a pedestrian street on the right side that goes in a zig-zag, there are some bars and cafés here. Walk straigt, and keep going straight on the next street in front of you. After about 300m you will come to another square on your left side. Follow the road to the right (Rua Pituba. or 'Pituba' as it is known - it is the main street) and about 200m up this road you will see a palm tree on you left side which is out the front of the hostel. You're here, phew!!
If you get lost, ask anyone 'Ondé fica Pituba', and look out for the palm tree out the front. It's easy and the people are friendly and helpful. Alternatively, you can ask 'Ondé fica o Billabong', that is a well known café opposite us.
Itacaré is as safe place as you'll find in Brazil, but it is not advisable for single women with big bags to walk around alone at night (same rule for most places in the world, right?). Inform us beforehand if you'll be arriving late and we'll try and organise for someone to collect you.
Good luck and boa viagem!!
