Right down town. Standard small hostel rooms, but clean as a whistle. Great staff, even the poor bastards on overnight were helpful and smiling. FUll of advice etc. Room I was in fronted onto the street which was a bit noisy friday and saturday nights/sunday morning, so beware of that if its important to you.

Reykjavík Backpackers is a brand new hostel in the heart of Reykjavík City. It is run by travelers and adventures with hopes of creating a great place for travelers and adventurers to sleep and relax as they visit Iceland's capital city.
The hostel is located on Laugavegur, which is the main shopping street, and is only a 15 minutes walk from the main bus station. The downtown area offers most of Reykjavik's finest museums, cafes, restaurants, bars and clubs.
We are affiliated with Iceland's longest running adventure company, Arctic Adventures, and all of our guests can choose from great offers on their tours. Our staff can provide expert information on what to do, see and experience during your stay and will gladly arrange some activities for our guests. Each week the hostel staff will organize an activity in which everyone can join and together we'll head out for an adventure.
The hostel has a private backyard and balconies open for our guests, common rooms on each floor with cable TV and comfy sofas for relaxing.
With our unbeatable location and prices in a fun and lively hostel we make it our priority to make your stay as pleasant as possible! We happily join you in your adventures. See you in Iceland!
Practical info:
We provide our guests with 24-hour check in and service and free internet access. The hostel doesn't lock up for those arriving late, but it is not allowed to disturb other guests between 10 pm and 8 am. All the beds have clean sheets. A pillow, duvet and bed linen can be provided, but are not included in the price. Guests can also rent towels for their stay.
Please note that more Double rooms have just been added.

Great location, and very helpful and friendly staff. Takk (Thanks, in Islenska). Right on party street, so unless you want absolute quiet at night, it's a steal of a deal. Would do it all over again.

Directions
Arriving at Iceland's international airport in Keflavík take the FLYBUS to Reykjavik. Tell the driver you are headed to Reykjavik Backpackers and you'll be taken to the doorstep. The FLYBUS will first drop you off at BSI, the main bus terminal in Reykjavik city center and from there you'll be taken directly to the hostel by a connecting bus.
The FLYBUS operates in connection with all arriving flights and your seat is always guaranteed.
Other transport within the city center is not necessary since you're already there.
