As a lone mature woman I was greeted like a long lost friend. Eduardo creates a friendly warm, welcoming atmosphere. Once you get your bearings of the area it is fairly easy to get around and walk into the city centre (50 mins) or take the local bus @ 17 pesos currently one way.
There is a beach and nice park close by, and a large shopping mall.
The BandB itself is clean and comfortable, I would have liked more choice for breakfast rather than just toast each day. Compared to other hostels it would make Una Noche Mas more expensive for what you get as it were, however there is very little other choice in Montevideo other than more expensive hotels.
