This hostel was a very pleasant surprise indeed. My reason for staying there was unusual: I was in Irkutsk for work reasons rather than for tourism. Affordable hotels were all booked but I discovered the Trans-Sib fairly late - it was not advertised on many of the websites that I checked.

About Trans-Sib Hostel
Closest hostel to the rail road station of Irkutsk, you could get to us in 12 min walk.
We offer a reasonable priced cozy accommodation in a city center with a good location close to the park, several cafés and stores, ATMs etc. Our friendly hostel staff could gladly provide you a big range of extra services and could assist for your travel to Baikal Lake (we are specialized on any type of outdoor tourism like trekking, hiking, climbing, rafting etc).
We do provide our customers with visa registration service, could give a help with organizing invitation letters for obtaining Russian Travel visa and ready to supply travelers with wide range of informational support in a field of traveling to Baikal Lake and along Transsib rail line.
Right across the road form our hostel there is a big park where you may relax on a green after long and crowded ride along Transsib rail line!
You are welcome in Irkutsk city, capital of the Eastern Siberia and heart of Transsib line!

This hostel was a very pleasant surprise indeed. My reason for staying there was unusual: I was in Irkutsk for work reasons rather than for tourism. Affordable hotels were all booked but I discovered the Trans-Sib fairly late - it was not advertised on many of the websites that I checked. This may be why it stil had a bed for me.
I stayed in the Trans-Sib for an unusally long time - nearly three weeks - and enjoyed every day of it. I had the separate room which I can recommned to anyone on a longer stay in Irkutsk.
Although I have rated "service" slightly lower than most of the other categories this is only because, understandably for a small hostel, it is not staffed full-time. Otherwise, the service was the most outstanding part of my stay there. All the staff there are very helpful and friendly and Anton in particular went out of his way with leads for my work. I plan to return to Irkutsk and I certainly want to stay here again.
