Great value for money, only a few drawbacks

This review is from a young couple, staying 7 nights during the easter holidays.

At first, our plane arrived quite late but a member of staff was helpfull enough to check us in in the middle of the night (as we've told them through email beforehand)

Rooms were rather small, but we didn't expect more from it for that price. Just a bed a closet, and shower/toilet in the bathroom. Suprisingly there was no mirror in the bathroom so we had to help ourselves with a small make-up mirror we took with us. In the room there was also a small television set wich we could to watch dvds (we could just lend some free of charge) if we wanted to.

Bed was made up every day (except one day) but i didn't think they put up clean sheets. Room was (during a 7 nights stay) never cleaned or there weren't any signs of it. Also the towels were never changed. But to be honest: when asked for, a member of staff happily gave us another fresh pair.
Just to say: the guesthouse wasn't dirty at all, but 7 days in the same small room wishes for some occasional cleaning.

The bed was rather hard and squeecked a lot when just turning yourself around. This kept us off sleep sometimes. Also our room (N°3) was located just next to the kitchen/main room were at night/evenings it was sometimes a bit noisy.

It is indeed like a 15 minutes walk from the Guesthouse to O'Connell street. If you want to go out in the evening (temple bar) you have to take into account the walk home.

Overall staff was very friendly, if asked for bus stops, local shops or tourist attractions they were very eager to explain things to you.

We wanted to rent some bikes, but that particular member of staff had forgotten about it. As he had to get the bikes somewhere else he told us where we could get the bikes. Once arrived there was nothing but a pub owner who told us to go to this òther place. We never found the bike rental service and bought a 3-day bus ticket instead. So if you're wanting to rent some bikes, you'd better look to other possibilities and don't really count on the guesthouse staff. Also if you like to go cycling in the area, please note that there are no bicycle maps available of the area.

Waking up and don't having to go through the city looking for breakfast (as it was included) was really nice. The breakfast wasn't really as advanced as the 'continental breakfast' they advertise in the breakfast cafés. But it was sure a lot better then the breakfast at home. You get 2 eggs, ham and cheese, and coffee or thee. If you'd like something else als breakfast you could buy and make your own in the fully equipped kitchen, this also counts for lunch, evening meals or late-night snacks. This is positive for people not wanting to spend a lot of money in restaurants.

Overall we had a nice stay. Here described above are some little things that made our stay a little less pleasant. If the beds remain the same as they were (in our room at least) I would not really recommend this Guesthouse. But if they put in better beds, then this guesthouse is, given the few drawbacks, a great value for its money. (As comparison, we paid 20€ ppn and 33€ ppn in the weekend)
