Some of the staff are super nice but some of them???? I booked into the deluxe 8 room which to be honest is not value for money. The ac is set on a timer which switches on at 9.30pm or later. If you want to rest during the day forget it, there is no fan and it's stuffy. The biggest problem I had was the security of gear. There are no lockers!!!! And they don't offer facilities to hold large things like DSLR cameras or laptops.

About La Jungla House Hostel

Internet Access 24 hour reception

We've smashed our prices for the green season. Now is the best time to check out 'the most complete hostel in Panama City'

Budget hostel and classy bed and breakfast located within a few steps of restaurants, 24 hour grocery, bars, shopping, and casinos right in the middle of the young and hip El Cangrejo district. Come and see what others are already talking about and why we are the best option for backpackers in the city's center. Whether its a night or a little longer, we have a pretty sweet setup for you and yes lots of space and tons of things to do.

'Tree Top' level rooms overlook the hotel/casino district of the city. Dorm rooms and private rooms come with and without AC (ask about the 'ice box' dorm room); communal area with TV, movies (digital theatre coming soon), free internet with good wireless signal throughout the main floor and rooms. Walking distance from bars/clubs, restaurants, shopping, casinos, and supermarkets. VIP entrance for the guests in several of the city's clubs with a party planed somewhere in the city EVERY night. There is a huge communal kitchen, not joking. 'Backpacker breakfast' available to all, as well as a full breakfast menu for purchase. Laundry service, garage parking with remote access, equipment rental for excursions, airport transfers and reputable boats (no dodgy captains) to Colombia through San Blas can all be arranged. Car rental and Mirador Adventures tour operator on site with info and budget excursions to literally ALL parts of Panama and the Republic of Chiriqui.

Want the coldest dorm room in Panama, then come stay in the 'Ice Box' an 8 person AC dorm room. On a budget and want the minimum, got you covered with any one of our small dorm rooms with fan. Of course, if you want all the fun and don't feel like sharing sleeping space with new friends, we've got private and semi private options for all budgets. Once you're here, you will have plenty to share stories with, and wealth of local and international knowledge to ensure your bank of travel stories gains interest.

If you want to rest during the day forget it, there is no fan and it's stuffy. The biggest problem I had was the security of gear. There are no lockers!!!! And they don't offer facilities to hold large things like DSLR cameras or laptops. I was told the place is safe and that since I was staying in the delux room on a separate floor, I was given a key to access the floor which no one can enter this unless they are staying on that floor.

On different occasions there were people I know were not staying in the hostel walking in and out, leaving the central door open or unlocked. Great security.

Both balconies are smoking areas which gives you no choice but to sit and breathe in the fumes. Smoke also wafts into the central living areas during the day and into the delux bedroom on the first floor.

The location is good, the concept is good, but if you're going to charge delux prices you should cater to those who are prepared to pay more.

Directions

Address: Calle 49a Oeste and Via Argentina, Next to Dermocenter SPA
Edificio Rina #11, 5th Floor
El Cangrejo, Panama City.

Albrook Bus and Domestic Airport Terminals (Driving):
Head to the University of Panama on the road called the 'Transismica' and then take the first right after campus ends that goes beside an overpass bridge and joins a roundabout. Vere to the right off of that. It's easy from there...

You will see a gas station ESSO, take a left after the station, then your first right thereafter. We are located on the left hand side of the road, half way down immediately after Dermocenter and before 'Hotel Las Huacas'. It's that easy!

TAXI: Tell taxi to take you to 'Hotel Las Huacas, subiendo del Casino Fiesta.' We are three buildings up the hill on the same side of the road as the hotel Las Huacas. Just look for the La Jungla House banner posted to the front of the building that says RINA. At night: you will find brightly lit lights around our terraces. Find those, and your there!
