Welcome to the 2014 Best Hostel in the Philippines award winner :) and Manila's best-kept backpacker secret, an alternative hostel on a mission to change the way travelers experience Manila.
Top-rated and family-run since 2009, the Red Carabao is a home exclusively for travelers and located smack-dab in the heart of real Manila - away from the Malate red-light district yet nearest the LRT Metro, Banaue & Sagada buses, and Clark Airport. If you value authentic travel, a bit of adventure and some hardcore parties, this is the home you're looking for!
We have a two night minimum on weekends and special occasions because we wanna get to know you and welcome you into our community! Just hit us up if your schedule can't allow for a longer stay. We'll just have to get to know you very quickly!
Our family opened our house so fellow backpackers can experience true Manila as locals do. And just about everyone on Hostelworld and TripAdvisor says we do a pretty good job at it. Still, it has never been our aim to cater to everyone's motives for travel. For your sake and ours, please read about us to find out whether you and the Red Carabao are a compatible match.
What the public say about us...

Lovely clean place, very friendly and helpful staff, very good value for mony. Not near shops and difficult to find. Tell Taxi address and say "near entrance to Chinese Cemetry". Peso40 (50 pence uk) tricycle ride to SM Mall (v.good with all shops you could want plus lots of eating places). Recommended.
