We are in Londres, NOT ON THE BEACH. Finca Amanecer is no ordinary hostel. It is currently operating as an Eco-Hostel or Eco-Lodge and is in transition to becoming a sustainable Eco-Villge. Live, learn and grow with us. Here you can discover the real Costa Rica in the typical Tico pueblo of Londres.
Enjoy an ECO-HOSTEL learning experience on 7 acres of 'Eden'. Finca Amanecer, is an organic spice FARM offering clean and comfortable rooms in a funky, rustic Tico home. We are all about 'sustainability', leaving a smaller footprint on Mother Earth. We are 10 miles EAST of Quepos, where you can sleep to the sounds of the Rio Naranjo in Londres, the Tico version of Mayberry RFD.
We are located on a RURAL DIRT ROAD with scenery so fantastic, local ATV tours charge $95 to experience this, 'dirt road from hell, on a road to no where', adventure. You can appreciate the same scenic beauty during the 40 minute bus ride for less than a dollar. (My Daddy always said, 'Sell the sizzle') 'You can relax and enjoy 7 acres listening to the sounds of nature while those tourists return to noisy overcrowded hotels in smelly Quepos'. (quote from Charles McKenna, he stayed here while biking from the Arctic Circle to Tierra del Fuego) Enjoy nature's own aromatherapy; nightly Ylang Ylang known as the Chanel #5 tree; and if you are lucky you'll be intoxicated by the fragrance of Night Blooming Jasmine. Que Rico! This is still my favorite experience.
Here you'll have the opportunity to get your hands dirty, take the "Finca Tour", or hang in a hammock and bird watch. You'll learn about tropical fruits and spices, including chocolate and Vanilla. Here you'll learn about sustainability, ask about our Tico semi-automatic washer. April is a very special month as you may help hand pollinate the Vanilla orchids. Nov 15-Dec 15 we harvest and begin the 6 month curing process.
Breakfast is generally fresh fruits and herbal tea from the Finca, home made banana bread and Costa Rican coffee. Londres is safe and great for single travelers. Here you'll see Scarlet Macaws, Toucans and lots of Tanagers. Take a tour, stroll around town, and hike to the waterfall or swim in the river or the creek. .
What else to do here? Cool off in our creek or go white water rafting on Rio Naranjo Class III/IV white water May through November. Christmas to Easter Rio Naranjo becomes a lazy river and you can float it or can try your hand fly fishing for Machaca, or simply watch the birds and butterflies from the patio. Most Saturdays there is Karaoke or music at Robin Hood across the street. There are 3 soda/restaurants, 2 mini-supers and 2 bars within walking distance. We also play lots of Rummikub, Dominoes and card games. We are within walking distance of two ZIP line Canopy tour. There are 4 horse back tours; Rappelling; Rafting and biking tours in the area. Ask about a free map to the secret "Bridal Veil" waterfalls. There are 2 restaurants where you may catch your won Talapia. Aside from bird watching and independent hikes around Londres we can arrange tours to the Reserva de Campesinos, another small agro- tourism project within 10 km, and book your reservation on ANY tour in the Quepos area.
