BIG TREE is a homely lodge with character! UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP!
A large colonial villa and former vicarage, it features unique native timber paneling and furniture. There are six lockable bedrooms, twin, double or share - with not a bunk in sight!! Beds are made up with fresh linen and duvets and electric blankets are available. We are self catering with shared facilities such as; the comfortable open plan lounge area with log burner, the large communal kitchen and the new spacious bathrooms with laundry facilities. We offer free hi-speed wireless internet and "closed day" entertainment including books, jigsaws, board games and a large DVD selection. We have lockable storage for skis/snowboards (or mountain bikes in summer) and a convenient ski tuning area. If tuning is not your thing, our resident trained snowboard/ski tuner can help you out. We have private off-street car parking and if you are without a vehicle there is mountain transport or airport transfer available door-to-door. Conditions
Due to our small size and the seasonal nature of our
accommodation cancellations affect us significantly. Confirming reservations: acceptance of a reservation requires provision of a valid credit card number, cardholder name and card expiry date and will incur a non refundable booking fee of one nights accommodation . Cancellation: Once booked the following will apply; the initial fee is not refundable and a full tariff charge will be made for cancellations within 7days of the booked date.

Big Tree Lodge Methven is conveniently located at 25 South Belt right in Methven Mt Hutt village close to restaurants, cafes, bars, supermarket, shopping, service stations and i-SITE Visitor Information Centre.
From Christchurch follow the Main Highway (SH1) south from Christchurch towards Ashburton. At Rakaia, turn right at the Mobil petrol station, then follow the signs for Methven. From the main intersection in Methven (with the Brown Pub and the Blue Pub), head south down the main street (SH77) and South Belt is the second street on the right.
OR
Follow the West Coast Road (SH73) from Christchurch to Darfield and turn left along Inland Scenic Route 72. Then follow the signs for Methven. From the main intersection in Methven (with the Brown Pub and the Blue Pub), head south down the main street (SH77) and South Belt is the second street on the right.
From Queenstown/Wanaka -
Scenic Route: follow SH8 to Fairlie, turning left to Geraldine to follow the Inland Scenic Route (SH 72) until turning right towards Methven along Pudding Hill Road. When you first arrive in Methven, you will be driving along Forest Drive, at the main intersection in Methven turn right onto Main St and take the second street left which is South Belt go down to no.25 on the left hand side.
Short route for those in a hurry: follow SH8 to Fairlie, turning left to Geraldine to follow the Inland Scenic Route (SH 72) until Mayfield then turn right at the major intersection just out of Mayfield where you then turn almost immediately left (signpost says Rakaia). Keep on this road till you come to a T-intersection, then turn left as the sign post says to Methven. When you come to the 50km sign South Belt is the next left go down to no.25 on the left.
