LKNZ Backpackers, Ohakune, New Zealand

LKNZ Backpackers is situated in the heart of Ohakune, with magnificent views of Mt Ruapehu. Just a 20 minute drive up the mountain to Turoa ski field and only a further 20 minutes to Whakapapa on the other side of the mountain.

LKNZ Backpackers consists of two hostels the back lodge and front lodge.

The back lodge only gets used in Winter (June-Oct) during our peak periods.

Our Front Lodge is our YHA/BBH lodge. It is modern and has all its facilities under one roof. The front lodge contains Doubles, 4 beds dorms and Sleeps 4 and 5 private rooms.

The front lodge is very popular in the winter and fills up fast.

Our Back Lodge is older and has a slightly rustic feel to it. The back lodge has the same facilities as the front lodge, with the exception that the majority of rooms are cabin style, and the WC's require a short walk outside to get to them. Our back lodge contains twins, doubles, 4,6 & 8 bed dorms and Sleeps 3 private rooms.

Take advantage of our shuttle service which provides daily transport to the World famous Tongariro Crossing as well as all other walks in Tongariro and Whanganui national park. In winter transport is also provided to Turoa ski field.

LKNZ Backpackers is also the point of contact for all Yeti Tour bookings, providing guided and freedom hire canoe adventures along the idyllic Whanganui River as well as the Bridge to nowhere. 2-6 Day Trips available.

Dine at some of Ohakune's finest restaurants, bars and café's by night and shop by day, all only 2 minutes walk from the lodge.

Accommodation includes: Doubles, Twins, Family Rooms, 4 bed dorms, one 6-bed dorm and one 8-bed dorm. Shared kitchen and bathroom facilities, all bedding provided and towel hire available.

Facilities include: Two fully equipped kitchens, laundry and drying room, central heating, dining and lounge areas with pool table, X-Box, high-speed internet, two TV rooms with multi-language satellite TV, home theatre system with free DVD's and videos.
