I visited Li Jiang mid-December 2009 with my parents. I chose Luminn because of price and the fact that they speak English very well. Li Jiang can be a challenge if you are like me and have little knowledge of the Chinese language.

About Luminn Guesthouse
Welcome to LUMINN. We are happy to offer you our service. Our property locates in #57 Zhaoqing Village,Xingewen alley, Qiyi Street(besides Xing Wen Primary School), old town of Lijiang,a quieter place away from the noisy area,the owner speaks English very well and can offer a lot of information on the area.
It is a traditional wooden structure residence of Chinese Naxi style with Dongba civilization.It takes about 6 minutes to walk from the Hostel to the center of the old town - Sifang Jie (Market Square).
In reception room, we also have cable TV, DVD player, purified water dispenser, public computer.
There is a bar upstairs. It is a multifunctional salon, people can hold parties if they like. with cheap drinks offers and some board games.
Our hostel offers the service of tickets booking, both transportation tickets and tickets for various attractions. We also help to rent cars for tourists if necessary. Detailed tourism information and luggage storage are free services. Tourists can use WiFi, make free domestic telephone call and enjoy the sunshine in the yard.
Accommodation Information
All ten of our available rooms have comfortable beds, spacious and clean bathrooms with clean cotton bath towel, free toiletries, hairdryer, mirror, luxury shower facilities and 24-hour hot water supply,and are of course equipped with television,free WiFi,wardrobe, electric kettle, two pairs of slippers and classical paintings on the wall; In winter we provide electric blankets.

Laundry service: a bucket of clothes is charged 10 RMB.

Note:As per local law, tourist needs to pay ancient town maintenance fee when enters or stays in ancient town, which is charged one-off 80RMB/person.
Location Information
Tourists can arrive here via airline/train/bus.
There are many domestic flights from different cities to Lijiang. Once you reach Lijiang airport, you can take the airport-bus first which costs 15RMB for each person. The destination of airport-bus is bluesky hotel. Then you can take a taxi to Luminn which costs about 7-8 RMB.
Or you can book a airport pickup from us which cost you 50RMB once.
It takes 8 hours from Kunming to Lijiang via bus,the ticket is about charged from 160-200RMB. The bus passenger station is not far away from here. When arriving at the station, you can take a taxi to Xingwen Primary School or Crowne plaza hotel which costs 7 RMB only.
It takes about 10 hours from Kunming to Lijiang via train, the ticket has different classed from 40-200RMB.
Taking a taxi from Lijiang railway station to old town costs you around 25RMB.
For foreign guest,we will send you a picture with Chinese sentence which means 'Pls take me to Luminn which is near Crowne Plaz and Xingwen primary school' by email after your booking. You are suggested to print it and show it to driver when you reach Lijiang.

Customers can cancel their reservation free of charge up to 2 Days before arrival. After this date, charges will be applied by the property up to the full cost of the reservation. Deposits paid are non refundable.

I visited Li Jiang mid-December 2009 with my parents. I chose Luminn because of price and the fact that they speak English very well. Li Jiang can be a challenge if you are like me and have little knowledge of the Chinese language.
I was very impressed with the email communication. They helped me book a van from the airport for 60 RMB and provided all information that I needed in advance.
On arrival we were greeted by Sophie, who always seems to be around when you need advice about what to do. During our stay, both Sophie and Luminn helped us find a good place to rent bikes and were knowledgeable about the other places of interest in the area.
We were the only guests at the time, which is a shame because this quaint guesthouse would be an ideal place for other travelers like myself. If you like a a quiet place away from the nightly noise of the party district, this is the place to stay.
I would not recommend staying at this guesthouse in winter, however, if you require central heating and other five star amenities like bath tubs. Most of the smaller guesthouses in Li Jiang don't provide these services anyway -it's not their way. We enjoyed the season despite the cool nights. The guesthouse had good quality beds and very warm blankets that made the nights cozy.
I plan to return to Li Jiang soon and would definitely stay at Luminn again. Highly recommended!
