LisbonView Hostel, Lisbon, Portugal

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lisbon View and were very surprised at the value and overall experience. The view over the Praca de Figuera from our private room was fantastic. The room was clean, well lit, and well-equipped (extra blankets, wifi, heater etc.) The kitchen was sufficient. Shared bathroom, but as the hostel is more like a converted house, you have the bathroom to yourself when you use it. Premises cleaned daily. Breakfast items (hot choc., tea, coffee, bread, spreads, cereals, milk) are available at any time- no specified breakfast hours. TV/lounge area with cable and comfortable lounge. Fantastic value for money. Only downside is that there is no manager on the premises most of the time - which can be difficult at times (ie. no 24 hour reception, but no lockouts as all guests have keys to come and go). Would definitely repeat our stay!

It was...good, not great, but good. Actually it's only a big apartment with 6 or 7 rooms to stay. Well, u can cook here, but there's only 1 kitchen. And the worst part is the bathroom cuz there's only 1 for all the 7 rooms! But except for all these, it's a good place to stay. Especially, the location is great! Cuz it's really near the City Center, and 5-7 minutes walking to Rossio train station, and in front of the building there're buses and subway to all the places of interest. The room is clean, but remember to bring your own towel cuz no one's gonna offer u towel or shampoo or whatever. The hostess is friendly, and she speaks English, not that well but still it's enough to communicate.

ONE THING IMPORTANT!!! If u want to check in, u have to really arrive on the time u fill when u order the room. We filled 10 o' clock, and we arrived like about 8, and nobody answered the door cuz those people who live here has been told that u can't open nor answer the door for any people (Cuz the people who live here has their own keys to the room) in case of the safety. It would be better if u could ask for the number of the hostess cuz when we arrived, nobody answered the door and we had to change another hostel and canceled our 1st day reservation! So be sure to have good contact before u go. But overall, our one-night stay there was good. Not great, but it definitely worthed the price.
