Nice little place close to Otsuka station on the Yamamoto line. Very clean and tidy. We had a western style room with a comfortable bed. The room was very small, but thats Tokyo for you. Very quiet area for people who like to sleep.

Sunshine City is a building complex located in East Ikebukuro, Toshima, Tokyo. It is Tokyo's oldest city within the city and has the 240 meter tall Sunshine 60 skyscraper at its center.

RSSWe stayed for a little more than a week and were really excited that we had our own bathroom since most of the cheaper hotels have shared bathrooms. The rooms are typically small, but you can't really expect bigger rooms for that price. Not since the hotel is about a minute from Otsuka station, which is on the Yamanote line, the line you will be using most of your time in Tokyo. Since the hotel is so central, train prices are cheap.
Even though both of us enjoyed the location, Otsuka might not be a place everyone will like. The hotel is next to several girls bars and you will see the girls (and their guests) at night. Most of the men walking around Otsuka seemed to be hosts but some of them seemed to be Yakuza(which should not be bad for foreigners, since they don't worry about us).
The hotel staff is very friendly and if you speak japanese, you'll have the best time with the two men, who usually sit at the reception. All of the staff members try to help you enjoy your stay and if they can't answer a question they will do everything to find an answer.
About 10 minutes from the hotel you will find several convenience stores. We bought our meals at the 100 yen 7eleven. They have single meals for 100 yen so that only having a shared microwave is not too bad. Since we went during the summertime there were people selling peaches for about 50 yen a piece, which is a bargain.
I am definitely looking forward to coming back, I love this hotel.

Very quiet area for people who like to sleep. The people at the front desk speak enough English to help you with most things and are friendly. This is a nice place, we stayed here for 3 days and I would happily stay here again.

Small room but it's OK. Very convenience location (if you use JR). Not expensive. For traveling around Tokyo then come back to rest and sleep , for tomorrow traveling again, that this hotel is enough and worthwhile for me.
