This is a Trusted Review. Why?
The hotel is a family owned business, with both owners and staff being very attentive to guests and their requirements. Our train didnt leave until 11pm but for a small charge(circa 8 pounds) we were able to keep the room until then.
The location is excellent - approx 50 rupees by autorickshaw from the train station, 40 mins walk to the forte, 5 mins walk to the tower clock or 50 rupees by autorickshaw to the chittan palace.
Rooms are basic but clean and offer exellent value for money, ours had a view of the forte and lake.
The rooftop restaurant had great 360 views of the forte chittan palace and lake.
Would recommend 'on the rocks' for food and drinking, which is set in a lovely garden, service and food excellent (which we found unusual in India) it also has a dance floor this place is popular with both indians and foreigners. 40-50 rupees by autorickshaw (make sure you confirm and reconfirm price agreed with drivers - we had one who went back on his word to try and get more money out of us).
Re bars Golden Bar is ok, most restaurants serve beer.
The cafe in the forte serves good food in large portions, service is also reasonable here.
